The Random Thoughts of Today

So one of my friends told everyone to blog today. I have nothing to blog about. So I will write all sorts of random thoughts that I've had over the course of the day.

I received my Maths assignment. The teacher said is was easy. I started counting the pages and stopped after 10.
Excuse me, I don't care how easy it is, something that takes that much paper is going to be tedious and horrible. Don't get my hopes up by saying it's simple.

He also said it wouldn't take me too long. Yeah. Sure. Whatever.

Anyway. I came home early today due to being sick again. I planned on going to bed. No, really, I did. I wanted to sleep and get over this.
I just, you know, wanted to check Twitter and Tumblr first.

It was a slippery slope. I started by reading a few things, and next thing I knew I had 18 tabs open and 3 hours had passed. Damn it, interwebs.

I couldn't help it though. I didn't know about these riots around England until I got home, so I started looking up the stories. And by the time I'd finished reading about these (surprisingly scary sounding) riots, I'd totally forgotten about going to bed.

40 pages of Tumblr later, and there was no longer any point to sleeping. I mean, once it hits a certain point in the afternoon, I can't nap without finding it impossible to sleep that night. Oh well.

A week ago, our English teacher told us all what grades he thought we should have at the least. He told me A+.
...I haven't had an A+ since year... 10? 9? Something like that. Usually I get an A-. I think I had a B+ once last year.

...Good to know that he's realised that my assignments are usually completed the morning they're due and aren't really a true reflection of my abilities, I guess.

Okay, so I'm now cleaning my room. I was going to watch Supernatural, and then I was going to browse Google Earth, but I've ended up cleaning. How did this happen? I have no idea. But anyway.
I took a bag to the bin earlier. Like, one of those huge black bags that you could fit 20 cats in. I don't know why I'm measuring in cats, but you get what I mean. And that was just stuff I'd found under my desk. My room is a mess. Anyway. The bin was covered in tiny little flying bugs. It was terrifying. I've never run away from something so fast in my life. And now I'm worried that I have bugs in my hair. It was terrible.

I have erasers that are shaped like different types of sushi on my desk. They're pretty awesome. Also, I have 962 379 steps total on my Pokewalker. Speaking of which, I haven't used my Pokewalker at all today, and yet I seem to have 10 steps.
How?
How?
I don't even.

I was going to advertise a song here but the title is in Katakana and I don't have a Japanese typing thing on this computer. I could type it on the laptop, but that'd involve opening Blogger on there and I am much too lazy to do that. Oh well. I will advertise it later.

Download Helper (the Firefox add-on) is being a bitch. It keeps stopping half way through a download and is all "download complete" but when I watch the video I'll see maybe 10 minutes before it cuts out. Pfft. Finished my ass.

That saying makes no sense whatsoever.

My Extension English teacher asked if I was enjoying my book. And, for the first time in a long while, I was able to say that yes, I was enjoying a book that I had to choose for English. Quite a lot, actually. It's very stream-of-consciousness styled, and I like that. It's also an existentialist novel, which increases my love for it tenfold. It's also very pessimistic and funny and hey, who doesn't like self-depreciative humour?
The book is Notes From Underground by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, for anyone who is interested. It is beautiful and absolutely horrid all at once. A brilliant piece of work, I must say.

I had this conversation with Dad after going to a university open day.
Dad: So, I assume you're studying in Japan abroad? I think it'd really help you become fluent in the language.
Me: Heh. Yeah...
Dad: ...you seem tentative?
Me: I... I kinda really massively want to travel to Italy instead...
Dad: Japanese is your main language, though.
Me: Yes but... well, Italy is beautiful and the language is amazing and I love pasta and they have so much art and everyone I know who has traveled loved Italy and if I went to Italy then everything would be Italian and nothing would hurt-
Dad: Look, I understand. Sort of. Well, I can try to understand, and I still think you should go to Japan. Wasn't Japanese -> English translations your ambition? Do you love Italian television and media enough to translate it?
Me: ...Stop being logical. I want to go to Italy. Damn it.

I've stopped cleaning my room and now I feel guilty. But I am a sentimental fool and don't want to throw everything out. Like birthday cards! I hate throwing them out. I get like, 10 a year, and I feel the urge to collect every single one.
I had to take the cash out (found another $50 note!!! Grandma ily), close my eyes, throw the card away and pretend that it didn't happen. Yeah.
18th birthday in 5 months and 11 days. I'd better get a lot of cash from that one. Loljks I'd rather not have a birthday at all. I feel so old. Aren't I supposed to start worrying about age when I'm 30 or 40? I don't want to have responsibility and stuff. I want to be a child forever.

DAMN IT DOWNLOAD HELPER. THE LAST VIDEO THAT WORKED WAS OVER 150 MBS. THIS ONE IS ONLY 6. I AM NOT A FOOL. I KNOW THAT YOU ARE LYING. YOU DO NOT LIVE UP TO YOUR NAME. YOU ARE NOT HELPING. YOU'RE BARELY EVEN DOWNLOADING.

My desktop wall paper is of the Master Sword. I wish I could delete all memories of the Zelda franchise so that I can re-experience it all over again. That would be amazing.

Everyone who has ever been in a fandom needs to read this. Yes. This. Let me post it once more: http://hesychasm.livejournal.com/187818.html

"Fandom is focus. Fandom is obsession. Fandom is insatiable consumption. Fandom is sitting for hours in front of a TV screen a movie screen a computer screen with a comic book a novel on your lap. Fandom is eyestrain and carpal tunnel syndrome and not enough exercise and staying up way, way past your bedtime."

"[...]Fandom could never be just a phase. Fandom is where you found a friend, a sister, a kindred spirit. Fandom is where you found a talent, a love, a reason.

Fandom is where you found yourself."

Yes yes yes.

Hey soulmate let me love you~

I think Fandom is where I discovered other people just like me, and that probably got me through the hell that was year 8 and year 10.
Really. I don't think anything, or anyone, else could have helped as much as the strangers I'd met on the internet.

That seems strange. Oh well. What, pray tell, is 'normal'? Why focus on the supposedly normal things? It's the strange oddities in life that make it interesting, no?

Pfft I'm going into a weird, almost-but-not-quite-philosophical mood. I'm going to stop before I start ranting or writing weird things. Oh no, your subconscious is showing.

I shall return to cleaning my room. I'd proof-read this but I will realise how totally random and terrible it is, and then it won't get posted. So if you see any grammatical errors, or spelling errors, or just errors in general, then please, get the fuck over it. K thanks ^^

Blow into this paperbag, go home, stop grinning at everyone.

Music Quiz Thing

1- First 10 songs on shuffle, write a little about each one.

I can't be bothered doing that. I'll write a sentence or something. YEAH.

1. Again Again - Lady GaGa

I didn't even know I had this. I've never actually heard it. Can't be bothered listening right now.

2. Common People - Pulp

I adore this~ BEST. ACCENT. EVER. <--- Sparta voice

3. In the Darkness - Naoko Mitome, Chika Sekigawa

This is from Super Paper Mario. Eh. It's not bad. Not the best track from the game.

4. 5,500 Miles - Presidents of the United States of America

Oh hey another one I haven't actually listened to. I think I downloaded them for the peaches song and never listened to anything else.
I'm listening now. First impressions? It's okay.

5. If Things Were Perfect - Moby

Not the best Moby song. Definitely not.

6. Shoujo - Kawai Kenji

From the Higurashi OST. I like this one. Very cute~

7. Like a Radio - Taku Iwasaki

This one's from Soul Eater. I have too many soundtracks. I'm really not that interested in this song.

8. About a Girl - The Academy Is...

Heh. Pop music, gtfo. I'm too hipster for you. I kinda like this song. Like, a lot♥.

9. Prelude - The Decemberists

As with any prelude to an album (excluding AFI's Prelude 12/21 of course) it's pretty non-memorable. This is a good album, though.

10. Buena's Password - Nintendo Orchestra (?)

Pretty sure this isn't an played by an orchestra, nor should the song be credited as such. Whatever. This song kinda annoys me.

...well, that was a mostly disappointing list.

2- How many bands have you seen live?

Uhh I've only seen two festivals, so no proper concerts. At said festivals I saw Cassette Kids, Yves Klein Blue, Bluejuice, Ben Lee, The Music, The Cairos, The Middle East, Yves Klein Blue (again), Custard and Powderfinger.

3- Which was the best band you’ve seen live?

Yves Klein Blue, definitely. Hence why I saw them twice. Powderfinger had the best stage/set, but Yves Klein Blue was just amazing.

4- Which was the worst band you’ve seen live?

Hm. Bluejuice, I guess... We actually walked away from the stage for lunch when they performed x3

5- Have you ever met someone in a band?

Yes, my guitar teacher. He's hardly famous though.

6- Have you ever been in a band?

Do school bands count?

7- Can you play any instruments?

Alto and baritone saxophone, clarinet, guitar and recorder. I have a keyboard that I sometimes mess around with, but I don't think that counts. I also have a flute that I can play a scale on ^_^

8- Which band would you give anything to see?

Radiohead. Oh my God, Radiohead.

9- Have you got any music hoodies, T-shirts, wristbands etc…?

Yes, plenty of T-shirts.

10- 5 photos of your favourite gig.

That I've seen? But I've only seen two. K uh, Q150, I guess. Have some pictures of Powderfinger and Yves Klein Blue x3

11- Favourite song at this minute?

Hm. According to last.fm, it's the acoustic version of 405 by Deathcab for Cutie. I agree with this.

12- Whats you’re favourite genre of music?

Alternative rock and indie. Whatever the hell indie is.

13- What song has the highest play count on your itunes?

I don't have itunes. The track with the highest play count on my last.fm account is Paranoid Android by Radiohead.

14- What song would you sing on karaoke?

None! If I had to choose though... hm... I can kinda imitate the non-screaming vocals of AFI, sometimes, and I often karaoke to their songs in my bedroom... Can't pick a specific song though. I'd also sing Lying is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off by Panic! At The Disco because it's damn fun to sing along to.

15- What song should never be sung on

Er, Canon in D. Seriously, why the hell would you sing over it? It's perfect without vocals.
...Oh! And everything from Zelda. That series is full of amazing soundtracks that would be totally ruined with vocals.

16- Whats your favourite album?

Dunno. I'll narrow it down to my favourite band (ie: Radiohead)... in which case, Hail to the Thief.

17- What would be the best line up for a festival?

Lol, I don't think anyone else would see a festival I'd plan... but anyway. I'd pick.... hm, Radiohead would be the headliners, followed by Placebo, Modest Mouse and Deathcab. I guess I'll throw Muse in there as well because they do really good live shows.

18- Do you get any music magazines?

Very rarely. When I do, they're all JPop ones because I need them to find new music x3

19- Snog, marry, avoid the first 3 artists on shuffle.

Kings of Leon, Daft Punk, Studio Pixel

Ah... well, I'd marry Studio Pixel because, let's face it, the guy that did this soundtrack created the entirety of Cave Story on his own. So he must be amazing. Why wouldn't I marry him? I guess I'll snog Daft Punk. Must be a threesome snog, since they're a duo. I'm okay with that.

Poor Kings of Leon. I'll have to avoid them. Oh well... I'm not that keen on them anyway.

20- 5 photos of your favourite band/artist

RADIOHEAD TIME. I can't pick 5 photos what is this can't I upload them all then again I have like 300 pics of Thom Yorke alone (and quite a few of Jonny Greenwood) and I'm sure you guys don't want to see them all dammit

Who do you think you are, Jesus? Lol jks I'd pray to you Thom~
Lolol I am the worst Christian ever

21- Do you have music posters up in your room?

I have a Muse poster. I don't really have the cash to buy others.

22- Do you have the same musical taste as your friends?

Yes and no. Yes, in that Lainey seems to have a similar taste in music to me, and quite a number of my friends like the music I pick out and show them. That said, if you compared our favourite bands? Heh, no, not at all. My taste is quite different.

23- Have you seen any musicals?

Yes yes yes yes yes. I have seen Cats, Les Mis, Avenue Q, Wicked, Chicago and... um... I think that's it...

24- If you could see any musical what would you see?

Um... Phantom of the Opera.

25- Do you listen to the radio?

Rarely.

26- Whats the worst song ever released?

There are too many to list.

27- Are you listening to any music now?

Yep. 30 Seconds to Mars. I'm about to put Pixies on, though.

Lol scratch that. Now I'm listening to Radiohead. Fangirl mode activated.

28- What was the last song you heard?

Down is the New Up - Radiohead

29- Whats the next gig you’re going to?

No idea. =(

30- Spam tumblr with photos/gifs of all your favourite bands + artists.

Lolol this isn't tumblr. I'll go find some anyway (and probably hotlink them because I am a horrible person. To last.fm!)

...I guess this'll be my top five. I have too many favourites to post them all.

Radiohead~

Lol Thom, best dance ever.

The White Stripes

Placebo

Eels

Gorillaz

You can't have too many images of a cartoon band guys.

Rambling is a Funny Word

You know what I hate? When you go to input a password, and the computer is like THIS PASSWORD IS TOO SHORT/WEAK/ETC and tells me to change it. It's like, dude, it's my security, I don't give a damn, GIVE ME MY BLOODY PASSWORD. ASDFGHJKL

I also hate when the school computers tell you to change your password every few weeks and won't let you repeat one. My last password was ILikeCake. The one before that was qwertyuiop and before that I had asdfghjkl. The one before that was ComputerPW4. Before that came ComputerPW3, ComputerPW2 and ComputerPW.

Dad's password was FridgeMagnet before he changed it.

I just got a new computer. Well, it's not really new. It's a collection of old things put together to make a working computer. Sort of like patchwork or something. There's all sorts of stuff in there. Anyway, the wallpaper rotates between a bunch of images. These images are all bright and, no joke, full of rainbows, love hearts, little animals and household appliances with big grins. I got this computer from my dad. This is weird. I need to go find a new wallpaper.

In Rome, it's illegal to keep a fish in a fish bowl. Really. I can't help but imagine this in the Hetalia universe... Spain was probably chillin' with Romano, and was like "Roma~" and Romano was probably like "shut up bastard, go do my paperwork or something, make yourself useful" and then Spain would've been all "okay" because he's a nice guy like that. And while working he was probably thinking about how sad and lonely fish look when in fish bowls and then he went and made fish bowls illegal in Rome. It totally sounds like something Spain would do =3

I just rambled at Dad for about 10 minutes. I mustn't have made much sense, because he interrupted me to say "I'm glad you go back to school tomorrow. You need to learn something so that your brain starts working again". Ouch.

I've been listening to Megaherz recently, and someone on Twitter told me to look up Oomph! because they are similar. I told Dad about this. This is what Dad has to say about all German industrial metal:

Me: [...]and then I looked up this other metal band-
Dad: Language?
Me: German.
Dad: Oh! So it all sounds like Rammstein?
Me: ... =_=

Pretty sure Rammstein is only popular because their lyrics are so horrifying. Brb Wikipedia-ing

"In addition, the songs "Amerika", "Stirb nicht vor mir//Don't Die Before I Do," and "Pussy" contain lyrics in English. The song "Moskau" ("Moscow") contains a chorus in Russian, and they sing some of their own songs entirely in Russian (including but not only Pussy, and the Russian song штиль). "Te quiero puta!" is entirely in Spanish. Oliver Riedel commented that, "German language suits heavy metal music. French might be the language of love, but German is the language of anger.""

Whoooo languages. My family mostly speak the language of anger. I think that is awesome. Also, lol, French is the language of love. Yeah, well, y'all know my opinion on that.
Speaking of which, I've heard some damn fine French metal, so you know....

I am so guilty of this. I also have the tendency to fill up my desktop completely and then think "whoops, I can't see my wallpaper anymore". My solution? Highlight everything, create a folder called Desktop and move everything into said folder. This is great, except I end up filling my desktop again and have to create another desktop folder. I have a folder on my desktop called 'desktop'. Inside of that folder is another folder called 'desktop'. Inside that is another folder called 'desktop'. I don't know how far this goes. I should count that one day.

Anyway. It gets really bad when you do open up these 'desktop' folders, because a lot of them are full of files that I have titled by slamming my keyboard. I didn't realise that this was a bad idea until I went to find an assignment only to discover that I had a good 30 word documents with titles like "awenfahngf asdkngfasd" and "okijergrgtre08jgnrt".

It's pretty cool when I go to title something with "dfihydsfsdgfe" and it's like "you already have a document titled dfihydsfsdgfe". That's only happened once to me so far, though. I also name all the blocks in my Sims game by whacking the keyboard, so in the town of "vc" I have houses named "fsd" "t" "324" and "t43g".

Heh. Reading that was great fun because 'words' like "dfihydsfsdgfe" are read as gibberish in my mind. I actually pronounce something in my head (usually something random that probably sounds nothing like the word I'm trying to read). I don't know why that interests me.

There's some carbon tax being implemented here in Australia. I didn't care much until I heard that it's going to affect costs of airline tickets (which should've been obvious but I fail at life so shut the hell up). Aw assballs. This has ruined my day. I mean, yeah, it's only an extra $3, but still. That $3 could make or break a holiday, you know!

I'm thinking about getting a Tumblr account. I don't really know how it works, but I keep finding hilarious images on there so... Plus I kinda use Tumblr for shipping goodness. You know when you find a page full of random stuff about your favourite ship? And you react by grinning and hugging whatever's nearby?

Yeah. Yeah, it's sorta like that.

I've been doing that all day while browsing Tumblr. All day. It's friggin' awesome. ♥

I've noticed that everyone seems to like Earl Grey tea. Except me. I'll go to someone's place and it's like "would you like some tea" and I say yes, and then they say "sugar, milk, honey, anything?" and I always say "No, thank you" and then they go ahead and make it. That's great. So far so good, yeah? But I've noticed that, even if they have a vast range of different types of tea in their cupboard (My Grandma has something like 6 or 7), they always assume that I'll want Earl Grey. No one ever asks. They just go "oh, yeah, everyone likes that one".
Goddamn it.

By the way, if you ever say tea cup in a British accent (one of the posh accents, I mean), I will never take you seriously ever again. Just so you all know.

Oh! So if you bite both ends of a Tim Tam and dip one end into your tea/coffee/hot beverage and suck the other, like a straw, you end up melting the middle of it (yes, that should be obvious, but really, who actually thinks I'm going to use my Tim Tam as a straw!???) and it is amazing. It just... I don't know, but something about melted Tim Tam is so damn good. Om nom nom.

You know how the Bad Touch Trio/Bad Friends Trio/Prussia, Spain and France are depicted in fanworks? I don't know how to explain it, but there's just this degree of crazy idiotic absolutely insane awesome to everything they do. They're always shown as really comfortable with each other and doing stupid stuff to each other that you should probably get slapped for and I dunno, it's just epic, and I want friends just like that k thanks ^_^

Yes. Super-Obama is featuring in my dreams tonight guize.

Procrastibation.

I'm not going to explain the word 'procrastibation'. C'mon guys. It should be obvious.

Anyway, I'm procrastinating, like I usually do. Not procrastibating (I would hardly advertise that online, guys) but just normal procrastinating. I have an assignment due tomorrow that I've hardly started. That's okay. I'll do it in the morning. That's how I did the last assignment. Woke up at 3am, finished it by 6am. I'm damn good like that.

You can't blame me for procrastinating. It's a stupid assignment. The task sheet is badly written and the teacher annoys me. Yeah, that's totally reason enough to not do an assignment. Moving on.

Pretty sure I looked at the task sheet, looked at the teacher and thought "what". Just like this gif. Yeah.

So how am I procrastinating this time? Unfortunately, I am not procrastibating. I don't think masturbation is a very productive way to pass the time. No, I'm listening to music, reading fanfiction and browsing Livejournal. Oh wait, that's what I normally do when something is due. Hm.

I'm a very predictable person, I suppose.

Then again, I'm not completely predictable. Guess what music I'm listening to. It's not indie, progressive rock or alternative for once. It's not in English or Japanese. Yeah, I've gone way out there. Sort of. I am listening to Italian rap.
Well, I'm listening to a bunch of songs in different languages about different countries. It just so happens that In Italia by Fabri Fibra (Ft. Gianna Nannini) is playing at this current point in time.

I figure I should listen to some more Italian if I want to learn the language... then again, there are a lot of languages I want to learn. Japanese, German, Macedonian, Greek, Spanish, Russian, Finnish, Portuguese, Latin and... Corsican, perhaps? Northern or Southern Corsican, I'm not picky.
I'd also like to learn Venetian, Sicilian and Neapolitan, but I may be going a bit over the top with the whole Italy thing. Corsican also counts, even if it's also spoken in France.

I'm too easily influenced. I started liking Finnish because of Tenuto Tuo, and it was Phantomess and Clearly Unfocused who got me into Spanish. But whatever.

L'italiano by Toto Cutugno is playing now. Which is quite a strange contrast when compared with the last song.

I should stop babbling on about languages now. Just for the record, I am studying Japanese and 'standard' Italian at uni. That will not change. However, I'd like to do German and maybe Sicilian one day in the future. Maybe. Depends on how difficult it is to learn Japanese and Italian... but hey, I'll keep those as my goals, anyway. It's nice to have goals, even if you probably won't reach them. It's free to dream big, right?

Right.

(The word 'procrastibation' was totally stolen from [title of show] which is absolutely hilarious and everyone should go watch it. Yes, right now. Yes, you. Go watch it. You won't regret it. Alright kiddies, go procrastibate and have fallacious arguments with your friends, mmkay?)

Rant #342

I love rants. By the time I've finished I am no longer angry :3 I'm currently ranting with my Hetalia Shimeji's roaming around my desktop, actually. Nothing better than getting mad while watching little chibi Japan's and Romano's climbing around my screen, Y/Y?

Here's an example of mah Shimeji's. Italy is on the ground, Japan is the one falling from the sky~

K, I always rant about my family. I'ma just say one thing; Mother Dearest, calling one of my friends an 'ignorant bitch' is not a nice way to start a conversation. It doesn't win you any points with me. In fact, it makes me rather angry and I would like for you to stop complaining about people you don't even know. Sincerely, your daughter.

Alright. Next point is at my own head. If I am told to learn, say, three words in Japanese, I'm perfectly fine. If I get a list, my brain goes NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO and promptly shuts down. This is really unproductive of you, self, and I wish you'd stop this stupid panicking thing you do. Kthx.

My Japan Shimeji is wearing a kimono, and when he crawls along the top of the screen, the kimono slips and shows way too much of his legs. I am so glad it doesn't slip any further.
This is quite awkward. I'm going to put him away and bring Denmark out.

K, Denmark is here in a cool hat. Much better.

D'aww he's sitting next to Romano.

Romano still looks grumpy like the little bitch he is. I absolutely adore him and his cute little angry face though.

Erm, yes, anyway. Moving right along.

Next point is aimed at teachers. I'm in more than one class. As such, I am expected (Denmark just did a flying leap to catch up with Romano who is halfway up my page. Guys that was the coolest thing ever) to do assignments and homework for all of my subjects. Not just yours. Also, I do instrumental of my own free will. Don't get all upset because I miss a lesson due to being sick. That is hardly my fault. Stop stressing out, it's not my problem that you have only a few good players so every little fault we make angers you to no end. Get over yourself. I have plenty to do. If you don't stop pushing me, I'll happily leave. I'm not following music after school. There is no reason for me to continue playing in your bands. So make this year worth my while and stop stressing me out.

Next point: People annoy me.

K, that ain't the story guize. You lot should've known that already x3

If you have a problem with me, or if I've done something... or, hell, if I haven't done something, then tell me.
I don't much like being ignored. Or well, more to the point, spoken to one moment and then totally ignored the next. I think I'm being toyed with.

Dang. My Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time OST cover(s) by Zelda Reorchestrated just finished. Dang. Guess I'll go listen to 近藤浩治's original OST's now. LoZ: Majora's Mask sounds good.

The other thing is, erm, anger management, perhaps? I don't like confrontations at the best of times. I think I hate proper arguments because of my mother, actually (I really do love her. I just hate certain things she does...). That's not the point. I just want to say that, you know, there's no need to get riled up over insignificant things. And there's no need to stoop so low as to throw overly-personal insults at each other (Romano just sat down next to Denmark of his own accord!!! Hahaha, despite your angry-face, you need friends too, don't you chibi-Romano~). The way I see it, everyone has their own demons to face right now. Everyone. So none of us need the added stress of being put down during a petty argument.

Lolol this soundtrack is the greatest thing ever. It's so twisted. Like your face. Take that. Bitch. Mmhm.

Lol Youtube

It seems that all the AMV's I had taken down 3 years ago are now back up, despite me never attempting to resolve the copyright issues. Not that I'm complaining. I had two videos with over 10,000 views and I didn't want to lose that count. I'm still rather proud of it ^^

I should do some more AMV's. I haven't contribute to my fandoms in a long time. I've become a rather bad lurker. Back in 2007 or so I was pretty well known within the Code Lyoko community... Eh, I doubt I'm even remembered now. No matter, I can't remember the last time I watched the show, so I'm not all that fussed.

I wish I had the time to mess about on forums and whatnot. I really miss the online communities. Then again, at the time those communities were all I had when it came to cartoons and anime. I have friends who have similar tastes in television to me now, so I don't have that same desire for connection as I did back then.

This post is pretty redundant. Just a musing or two of mine.

Oh, here, this'll make up for the rather empty post. I was in love with this track for a good portion of junior high. ♪ Enjoy.

You don't wanna hurt me,
But see how deep the bullet lies.
Unaware that I'm tearing you asunder,
And there's a thunder in our hearts, baby.
So much hate for the ones we love.
Tell me, we both matter, don't we?

Drinking Tea and Listening to the Sex Pistols

That's totally a normal combination. Other than the whole being-out-of-Europe thing, I doubt the Sex Pistols and tea have very much in common. Maybe the band members drank tea, I don't know. I don't really care to find out.
I am also listening to Ramones and The Clash. There are a few other 'new' bands that I've recently downloaded, but those three appear to be the ones I'm listening to the most. Thank you, Lainey, for educating me on punk. Not that I was totally clueless (I've only loved the fashion for like, forever) but, you know...
Once again I have left every single assignment until the last minute. Oh well. Time to go read fanfiction or something.

There are four ants on the ceiling and I'm worried that there are more, but I don't really want to go check. The spiders leave for winter and every other little creature moves in. Brilliant.

If my internet cuts out one more time I will strangle someone.

Thoughts of a Boy-Obsessed Mind

...it doesn't have the same ring as the vacant mind title, does it?

As can be seen from previous posts, I like making lists. I big like making lists. 総目録が大すきです。
Google translate says that means '
I like large general catalog'. I love you, Google translate.

So anyway, I have decided to make another list. I was reading some of my friends blogs and thought "hey, let's make a list on the type of guys I like!"
I wouldn't rule a guy out because he doesn't make the criteria (it's not like I choose who I like now, is it?) but this is just, you know, general stuff I tend to notice.
I should totally test guys before I date them. I'll make a questionnaire for them with important stuff like do you have a good sense of humour? Are you likely to do something idiotic? What are your opinions on drugs and alcohol? Do you know what lolcats are?
I'd totally make them write an essay on why they'd be a good boyfriend, and then I'd assemble some judges who will rate the essay and, using some complex system, will decide whether this boy is worth my time or not. ツ

Ahem. Anyway. Here are my dot points.

Appearance:
- I don't like muscles. At all. They creep me out.
- Height isn't a big thing, though I do like guys who are taller than me
- I love me some red hair. Black hair is also stunning and attractive.
- I do like skinniness. Not anorexic skinny, just thin-enough-that-it-looks-like-they-could-snap. Yes, there is a difference.
- Strangely enough, I'm still into slight chubbiness as well. I guess size isn't that important (double entendre not completely intended).
- Piercings... eh... no thanks. Same for tattoos.
- I like my scene boys, but most of them turn out to be jerks so...
- I don't like body hair =/
- I don't like broad shoulders.
- I've always loved pale skin. I have three friends that are really pale, and I am so jealous.
- I love eyes. Big, round eyes. Especially in blue or green. (Random fact: my favourite sims all have red hair and mostly green eyes.)
- Just to completely go against those last two dot points, I do lust over quite a few Japanese men. This is probably just a side effect of my current obsession with Japanese culture.
- Especially Japanese men in Visual Kei clothing.

This is ナイトメア[Naitomea], also known as Nightmare. The short guy in the middle? That, my friends, is Yomi. I would tap that so hard.

Personality
- Just to be generic, I like a boy with a sense of humour.
- I also like brains. No, I'm not a zombie (though sometimes I do appear to have a vacant mind. Title drop!). I like someone with a good head on their shoulders. No, no, I don't have some sort of head fetish. I like... um... intelligence. There we go.
- Alright, screw this, I need a paragraph here.
I do like my nerd boys. This is independent from the intelligence line, by the way. I like my fandom nerds. And video game nerds. If you have a conversation with me, chances are I'll at some point bring up TVTropes, anime, fanfiction.net, Nintendo, or possibly some sort of band. You're going to be a bit of a nerd if you can talk to me about the first four.
If I ever find a boyfriend who'll cosplay with me... my life will be complete.
Back to dot points.
- My humour is kind of... sexual. Guys, you need to know when I'm joking around, k?
- This will seem really bad, but I don't like being treated like a chick. If you playfully shove me I'll assume you see me as being on your level, rather than below you. Thus, I'll be more likely to befriend you.
- I like arguments. Be opinionated, but not forceful. Don't tell me I'm wrong, give me reasoning as to why you're correct and I'm not.
- Don't be offended easily.
- Seriously, back to the nerd thing. If I tell you that the Zelda games are linked by a split-universe theory that stems from when Zelda sent Link back to the past during Ocarina of Time. There are two continuities; the child link one, and the adult link one. For the child timeline to work, you have to assume that Link alerted the King of Hyrule to Ganondorf's intentions before leaving for Termina, allowing them to banish him to the Sacred Realm, thus creating the Twilight Realm etc etc, you'd better be able to keep up with me and either agree with me, or give me some damn good arguments as to why I'm wrong. And maybe come up with some extra theories with me. If I find a man who will theorise VG plots and timelines with me, I will love him forever.

Honestly, though, a lot of that can be discarded. If I find a guy who is funny, not easily offended and isn't going to look down on me in any way, I'll be happy. But, then again, the heart works in mysterious ways. I could fall for someone who is overly-muscular, dislikes videogames, is rather serious and doesn't like arguments. Who knows?

That'd be kind of unfortunate, though... Here, have an image for no apparent reason.

Sad banana is sad =(

The Band I Will Always Return To

So the other day I met up with my closest, longest friend. Due to a lack of internet at the time, we ended up listening to music and talking. After showing her the awesomeness that is Death Cab for Cutie, we ended up on the subject of our favourite bands, namely the ones that we really, really hold dear to us. At one point she turned to me and said "The one band I'll always return to is Paramore. Nothing could change that."
Without missing a beat, I easily replied with "Yeah. That's how I feel about Radiohead."
And it's true. Radiohead was the first band I listened to that wasn't force-fed to me via the radio. Granted, I listened to the songs my parents played to me, but I didn't notice them all that much. Everyone liked what was on the radio, right? So it must be good.

Later on Habbo Hotel (embarrassingly enough), someone redirected me to Radiohead. I listened to Coldplay, so they suggested I listen to Radiohead's first albums, specifically The Bends and OK Computer.
Naturally, I didn't listen to them and instead downloaded the bands entire collection. I am so glad I did. These days I own all the albums, B-sides and currently have live versions of unreleased tracks. Because you can't have enough Radiohead. Thom Yorkes vocals amaze me. For some people, his vocals are probably a bit narm-ish. (Couldn't think of a better word, check the link if you need.) To me, however, I find them spectacular. He has an astonishing range and he sings with such emotion, which is something that seems to be lacking in 'mainstream' music. The first song to truly give me goosebumbs would be Street Spirit, obviously by Radiohead. And they continue to amaze me.

When I do have a strange lapse in musical judgment or just lose my way a little, I end up pointing myself back to Radiohead. It only takes one album to remind me how good it feels to listen to something that doesn't follow the standard 'verse, chorus, verse, chorus' format with the occasional bridge.

I don't know what brought on this sudden burst of enthusiasm for the band. I was just sitting here when the weight of my 'Radiohead is the band I'll always return to' realization sunk in.

I'm thinking about getting more of my friends into these guys. I'll probably start them with the Bends. They need to hear the awesomeness that is Thom's vocals and Jonny's epic guitar skills. Oh, and the Ondes Martenot. Can't forget that.

Just a few random things.
-Hail to the Thief is my favourite album.
-Idioteque is my favourite album track, whereas Talk Show Host is my favourite B-side.
-I consider Thom Yorke's solo effort, The Eraser, to pretty much be a Radiohead album. By the way, it is very awesome.
-My cousin and I get into Muse Vs Radiohead debates all the time. Despite this, I do like Muse, and my cousin does like Radiohead. We just don't agree on who's better.

I have never seen Radiohead live. I desperately want to, though.

Yo. Again.

Two posts in one day. I am bored.
Here are the things I wish I knew as a child and why.
- There's an entire fandom for Palletshipping. (I thought I was the only one...)
- Fandom in general, I suppose. Same reason as above.
- I wish I had learned guitar. I would've been so good by now xD
- I wish I'd had a bigger interest in music, full stop.
- I wish I knew of AFI and... why on earth do I wish that?
- I also wish I knew of Radiohead earlier. Radiohead changed the way I hear music entirely.
- There's other Nintendo fan boys and girls. Not just xBox fans (and, specifically as a child, the PS2 fans)
- There are people who enjoy games for the plot lines and strategy as well. Not just the FPS fans.
- Pokemon isn't just a childrens game.
- Being a teenager isn't as exciting as predicted.
- Actually, now that I think about it, I wish I hadn't discovered fandom. It's kind of maybe taken over my life.
- My primary school friends weren't going to be with me for my entire life. Clearly.
- No, not every teenager has a boyfriend.
- No, not every teenager goes to parties every weekend.

Things that have changed since I was a child.
- I no longer want to go to my formal next year (I want to stay home and play Pokemon. Or something.)
- I look like I have baby fat now. I never did before. Is it possible to gain baby fat?
- Ok, maybe it's just fat. Maybe I need to stop eating so much.
- The only friends you need are the ones who are willing to give you space when you need it, and will still stick by you afterwards.
- Frequent parties get boring. Fast.
- My bedroom is now my best friend.
- Something that hasn't changed: Legend of Zelda = <3
- Neopets isn't actually that fun. At least, in my opinion.

Alright, time to go catch me a Mareep with a modest nature. That reminds me, I wish I knew of EV's as a child. It would've made Pokemon training much easier.

My throat. It itches.

Been watching two awesome animes. Inuyasha (dubbed) and Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni (subbed) and... I'm giving myself whiplash xD going between violent action to violent, blood filled horror is kind of disorientating. In a good way, of course.
Seriously... I've just seen like, everyone (not quite) attempt to claw out their own throats. And now mine is extremely itchy...
Only up to episode 8 of Higurashi. On Inuyasha I've downloaded 75 episodes. I think I've seen perhaps 150 of them though via youtube and other video sites.
DAMN IT MEGA VIDEO WHY CAN I ONLY WATCH 72 MINUTES BEFORE YOU KICK ME OUT? WHAT IS THIS.
This, my friends, is why I still prefer Youtube. Even if they have started putting ads on all the popular videos.
Bah. So anyway.

Top things that give me mega nostalgia:
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time music (some Windwaker tracks do this as well.)
- The music from the first two generations of Pokemon. It only works if I listen to the original chip-tone tracks. Even the GB player on HeartGold isn't enough for me, for some reason.
- If I play some of the first songs I learned on alto sax.
- Some old tracks I used to listen to with Mum and Dad when I was like, 5.
- Alright, just old music that I really like.
- The Bowser levels on Super Mario 64.
- For some reason, all manga does this for me. Even manga I have never read before. What. I didn't even read manga as a young child.
- Photos, of course.
- The first season of the Pokemon anime.
- Cardcaptor Sakura (subbed, don't watch the dub. Nooooooo.)
- My stuffed Kero doll ^_^
- Certain smells, especially vanilla. Even though I hate cinnamon, it also makes me feel nostalgic. I have no reason for this. Maybe Mum used to fill the house with certain smells or... something... man I don't know.

Hm. The weirdest things give me nostalgia. I assume we feel nostalgia because the past is something that's familiar and we feel more comfortable with it, right? Unless, you know, you had a really bad past... that'd suck... Yeah anyway.
So I don't get it really. There's no reason for nostalgia. Other than to make us feel happy I suppose. I don't like it in that it makes me wish I was younger. I don't like being older. I tried to play with my figurines and stuff the other day but realized I just don't have the imagination I used to. D=
It is so, so horrible.

I am going on holidays for a week. Yay. Sorta. Oh well. I'll still have internet though so that's cool.
