So one of my friends told everyone to blog today. I have nothing to blog about. So I will write all sorts of random thoughts that I've had over the course of the day.
I received my Maths assignment. The teacher said is was easy. I started counting the pages and stopped after 10.
Excuse me, I don't care how easy it is, something that takes that much paper is going to be tedious and horrible. Don't get my hopes up by saying it's simple.
He also said it wouldn't take me too long. Yeah. Sure. Whatever.
Anyway. I came home early today due to being sick again. I planned on going to bed. No, really, I did. I wanted to sleep and get over this.
I just, you know, wanted to check Twitter and Tumblr first.
It was a slippery slope. I started by reading a few things, and next thing I knew I had 18 tabs open and 3 hours had passed. Damn it, interwebs.
I couldn't help it though. I didn't know about these riots around England until I got home, so I started looking up the stories. And by the time I'd finished reading about these (surprisingly scary sounding) riots, I'd totally forgotten about going to bed.
40 pages of Tumblr later, and there was no longer any point to sleeping. I mean, once it hits a certain point in the afternoon, I can't nap without finding it impossible to sleep that night. Oh well.
A week ago, our English teacher told us all what grades he thought we should have at the least. He told me A+.
...I haven't had an A+ since year... 10? 9? Something like that. Usually I get an A-. I think I had a B+ once last year.
...Good to know that he's realised that my assignments are usually completed the morning they're due and aren't really a true reflection of my abilities, I guess.
Okay, so I'm now cleaning my room. I was going to watch Supernatural, and then I was going to browse Google Earth, but I've ended up cleaning. How did this happen? I have no idea. But anyway.
I took a bag to the bin earlier. Like, one of those huge black bags that you could fit 20 cats in. I don't know why I'm measuring in cats, but you get what I mean. And that was just stuff I'd found under my desk. My room is a mess. Anyway. The bin was covered in tiny little flying bugs. It was terrifying. I've never run away from something so fast in my life. And now I'm worried that I have bugs in my hair. It was terrible.
I have erasers that are shaped like different types of sushi on my desk. They're pretty awesome. Also, I have 962 379 steps total on my Pokewalker. Speaking of which, I haven't used my Pokewalker at all today, and yet I seem to have 10 steps.
How?
How?
I don't even.
I was going to advertise a song here but the title is in Katakana and I don't have a Japanese typing thing on this computer. I could type it on the laptop, but that'd involve opening Blogger on there and I am much too lazy to do that. Oh well. I will advertise it later.
Download Helper (the Firefox add-on) is being a bitch. It keeps stopping half way through a download and is all "download complete" but when I watch the video I'll see maybe 10 minutes before it cuts out. Pfft. Finished my ass.
That saying makes no sense whatsoever.
My Extension English teacher asked if I was enjoying my book. And, for the first time in a long while, I was able to say that yes, I was enjoying a book that I had to choose for English. Quite a lot, actually. It's very stream-of-consciousness styled, and I like that. It's also an existentialist novel, which increases my love for it tenfold. It's also very pessimistic and funny and hey, who doesn't like self-depreciative humour?
The book is Notes From Underground by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, for anyone who is interested. It is beautiful and absolutely horrid all at once. A brilliant piece of work, I must say.
I had this conversation with Dad after going to a university open day.
Dad: So, I assume you're studying in Japan abroad? I think it'd really help you become fluent in the language.
Me: Heh. Yeah...
Dad: ...you seem tentative?
Me: I... I kinda really massively want to travel to Italy instead...
Dad: Japanese is your main language, though.
Me: Yes but... well, Italy is beautiful and the language is amazing and I love pasta and they have so much art and everyone I know who has traveled loved Italy and if I went to Italy then everything would be Italian and nothing would hurt-
Dad: Look, I understand. Sort of. Well, I can try to understand, and I still think you should go to Japan. Wasn't Japanese -> English translations your ambition? Do you love Italian television and media enough to translate it?
Me: ...Stop being logical. I want to go to Italy. Damn it.
I've stopped cleaning my room and now I feel guilty. But I am a sentimental fool and don't want to throw everything out. Like birthday cards! I hate throwing them out. I get like, 10 a year, and I feel the urge to collect every single one.
I had to take the cash out (found another $50 note!!! Grandma ily), close my eyes, throw the card away and pretend that it didn't happen. Yeah.
18th birthday in 5 months and 11 days. I'd better get a lot of cash from that one. Loljks I'd rather not have a birthday at all. I feel so old. Aren't I supposed to start worrying about age when I'm 30 or 40? I don't want to have responsibility and stuff. I want to be a child forever.
DAMN IT DOWNLOAD HELPER. THE LAST VIDEO THAT WORKED WAS OVER 150 MBS. THIS ONE IS ONLY 6. I AM NOT A FOOL. I KNOW THAT YOU ARE LYING. YOU DO NOT LIVE UP TO YOUR NAME. YOU ARE NOT HELPING. YOU'RE BARELY EVEN DOWNLOADING.
My desktop wall paper is of the Master Sword. I wish I could delete all memories of the Zelda franchise so that I can re-experience it all over again. That would be amazing.
Everyone who has ever been in a fandom needs to read this. Yes. This. Let me post it once more: http://hesychasm.livejournal.com/187818.html
"Fandom is focus. Fandom is obsession. Fandom is insatiable consumption. Fandom is sitting for hours in front of a TV screen a movie screen a computer screen with a comic book a novel on your lap. Fandom is eyestrain and carpal tunnel syndrome and not enough exercise and staying up way, way past your bedtime."
"[...]Fandom could never be just a phase. Fandom is where you found a friend, a sister, a kindred spirit. Fandom is where you found a talent, a love, a reason.
Fandom is where you found yourself."
Yes yes yes.
Hey soulmate let me love you~
I think Fandom is where I discovered other people just like me, and that probably got me through the hell that was year 8 and year 10.
Really. I don't think anything, or anyone, else could have helped as much as the strangers I'd met on the internet.
That seems strange. Oh well. What, pray tell, is 'normal'? Why focus on the supposedly normal things? It's the strange oddities in life that make it interesting, no?
Pfft I'm going into a weird, almost-but-not-quite-philosophical mood. I'm going to stop before I start ranting or writing weird things. Oh no, your subconscious is showing.
I shall return to cleaning my room. I'd proof-read this but I will realise how totally random and terrible it is, and then it won't get posted. So if you see any grammatical errors, or spelling errors, or just errors in general, then please, get the fuck over it. K thanks ^^
Blow into this paperbag, go home, stop grinning at everyone.

Fandom Quiz Time
Because you can never have too many quizzes (if quizzes are quizzical, what are tests? Hehehe). I shall answer questions on Angel Beats!, Death Note, Inuyasha, Pokemon Adventures/Special, Harry Potter, Zelda and Hetalia. ^^
Fandom: Angel Beats!
Favorite Character: Angel/Kanade.
Least Favorite Character: Ah, Noda, probably.
Most Attractive Character: Iwasawa ♥
Character I Wanna Marry: Hinata~
Character I Wanna Be Best Friends With: Hm. Otonashi. Which is a boring answer, really.
Favorite Pairing: Otonashi/Kanade
Favorite Episode/issue/etc: When Kanade is in hospital and Otonashi regains his memories while lying on her chest♥
Unpopular Opinion: I truly do believe that they didn't meet up again. The scene where it shows Otonashi meeting up with Angel was, in my opinion, something he imagined so he himself could be reincarnated. Sorta like how Hinata helped Yui imagine having a happy life so she could be reborn or whatever.
Fandom: Death Note
Favorite Character: L. Just to be generic.
Least Favorite Character: Near
Most Attractive Character: Matt Matt Matt Matt Matt. ♥
Character I Wanna Marry: Rofl. None of them? I love Matt but that's mostly fanon. L, I guess..?
Character I Wanna Be Best Friends With: Mello. He'd get into some crazy stuff. Never a dull moment.
Favorite Pairing: I like pairing L/Light as a hate pairing, but I think Mello/Matt is the only one I actually ship.
Favorite Episode/issue/etc: The one episode with Matt. =/
Unpopular Opinion: I see many redeeming features in Light. Sometimes I think I am the only one who does so.
Fandom: Inuyasha
Favorite Character: Inuyasha. How dull.
Least Favorite Character: Kikyo. Definitely.
Most Attractive Character: Sesshomaru.
Character I Wanna Marry: Hm... I guess I'd go with Inuyasha.
Character I Wanna Be Best Friends With: ...Inuyasha again. Heh. Or Miroku.
Favorite Pairing: InuKag.
Favorite Episode/issue/etc: Dunno. The one where Kagome is chillin' with the wolves and is wearing the Robe of the Fire Rat, so when Inuyasha is caught in an explosion he's not protected and Kagome is so sure that he's been killed.
Unpopular Opinion: I don't think I have an unpopular opinion on this.
Fandom: Pokemon Special.
Favorite Character: Silver
Least Favorite Character: Emerald. I hate him so much.
Most Attractive Character: Green (male) ♥
Character I Wanna Marry: Hm. Sapphire. I'd totally turn lesbian for her.
Character I Wanna Be Best Friends With: Red. He'd be very easy to befriend, as would Gold.
Favorite Pairing: Franticshipping (Ruby/Sapphire)
Favorite Episode/issue/etc: Like, the entirety of the Ruby/Sapphire arc. I am such a shipper. I also loved the FireRed/LeafGreen arc.
Unpopular Opinion: I don't like Yellow. Everyone seems to, but I really, really don't. I've never liked pairing her with Red, either...
Fandom: Harry Potter Series
Favorite Character: I have way too many. Draco, Sirius, Snape and the twins are all awesome.
Least Favorite Character: Ginny.
Most Attractive Character: Hermione, in the movie. In the books I always envisioned the twins as being adorable.
Character I Wanna Marry: Eh... One of the twins. I don't know which, to be honest... I think I've always felt more affectionate towards George...
Character I Wanna Be Best Friends With: Luna! Definitely.
Favorite Pairing: I don't know... either James/Sirius or Harry/Luna.
Favorite Episode/issue/etc: My favourite book was The Half-Blood Prince, but my favourite movie was Prisoner of Azkaban.
Unpopular Opinion: I've never really had an issue with any of the changes the movies made. I can understand why most of the changes were made, so...
Fandom: Zelda series
Favorite Character: Midna.
Least Favorite Character: Princess Ruto. =_=
Most Attractive Character: Princess Zelda. Duh.
Character I Wanna Marry: I have absolutely no idea... Prince Komali, maybe. Who doesn't want a husband who can fly?
Character I Wanna Be Best Friends With: Tetra. How epic would it be to travel with a pirate?
Favorite Pairing: Link/Dark Link. Yeah, so, Dark Link is barely in the games. I still find the whole concept of the great hero finding love with his shadow really intriguing.
Favorite Episode/issue/etc: Windwaker or Ocarina of Time would be my favourite games. Probably OoT. Manga wise, I liked the Four Swords manga.
Unpopular Opinion: I like cell-shaded Link. I also loved Twilight Princess. Yeah, they're easier than the other games, but the plots and characters are still very deep and fun to get into.
Fandom: Hetalia
Favorite Character: Romano~
Least Favorite Character: Uh... I don't even know... France..? I hardly hate him though.
Most Attractive Character: Spain. DAT ASS~ etc.
Character I Wanna Marry: Spain would be the best husband, hands down. He's so kind and happy and ♥. That said... I kinda love Romano. A lot. I think he can be suave when he wants to (oh, who am I kidding, he represents South Italy, of course he can be suave), but he has a temper and I think I'd need that extra challenge in a relationship to keep from getting bored.
Character I Wanna Be Best Friends With: Prussia. Think of all the crazy shit we'd get up to~
Favorite Pairing: Spamano. Not just because Spain and Romano are uber attractive. Of course not.
Favorite Episode/issue/etc: Guh... uh... I've always loved the strips from when England was raising young!America. I also adore Boss Spain and Chibi!Romano, but that's just for my love of Romano... The Valentines Day strips are cute and very amusing as well.
Unpopular Opinion: I don't think this opinion is unpopular, but it's oddly uncommon anyway. I hate seeing England as being all weak and dependent on some stronger country. He was the fucking British Empire. What the hell guys.
Also, I love Mafia!Romano. There's an odd lack of fan stuffs for the mafia side of Italy, actually. This depresses me greatly.

"Opinions Are Like Nipples
"Everybody has one. Some have firm points, others are barely discernible through layers, and some are displayed at every opportunity regardless of whether the audience has stated "I am interested in your nipples" or not. Cats have nineteen."
You should also think before you share them, because otherwise you may offend some people.
Random blog post is random. Right now I have been avoiding doing my Extension English assignment because the teacher cannot teach and is being a total dick to my classroom English teacher (yeah, I'm totally making a really lame stand against him. Anyway). Said classroom English teacher can teach and makes a great effort in making sure we are all comfortable and equal with him. The latter is a trait that is not shared with my ExtEng teacher. Perhaps it's weird to take sides with teachers of all things, but... well... whatever. I hate my Extension teacher with a passion. I adore my classroom English teacher as he's the best teacher I've ever had. So the Extension one can go screw himself if he's going to keep being a jerk.

The title quote was taken from this very reputable site. Well, depending on your definition of 'reputable'. Lolol \(^_^)/

Aaanyway. I've thought very hard about my nipples opinions and have decided I want to share them. I mean, they're about Nintendo; how offensive can they be?
The top 5 3DS games I have been fangirling over the most are as follows.
1. Ocarina of Time 3D
2. Luigi's Mansion 2
3. Cave Story 3D
4. Professor Layton Vs Ace Attorney
5. Animal Crossing
Looking at that list... I suppose most wouldn't consider me a hardcore gamer, right? I still get confused as to the definition of 'hardcore gamer'. I'd assume it means that the gamer himself gets into the games fully, right? Because it refers to the gamer specifically. And trust me, I do get into my games. I'll spend hours playing (and totally skip out on eating and sleep if need be), I'll look up everything I can about the games when I'm done, I'll replay everything and find as many in-game secrets as possible and attempt to familiarise myself with the entire environment. Which should make me a hardcore gamer.
But for some reason, a hardcore gamer is only a gamer who plays 'hardcore' games. Funnily enough, that only seems to refer to first-person shooters o_O In which case, I am not a hardcore gamer. Tch. Fine. Guess my hours and hours of gameplay and research and fangirling and absolute adoration for my games means nothing to you people. Hmph.
Ehhh, but I digress. I'm not really sure what point I was going to make here. I suppose I'm just going to give up on this post because I've gone off on such a tangent that I've forgotten what I was doing. Whoops~

Rant #342
I love rants. By the time I've finished I am no longer angry :3 I'm currently ranting with my Hetalia Shimeji's roaming around my desktop, actually. Nothing better than getting mad while watching little chibi Japan's and Romano's climbing around my screen, Y/Y?

K, I always rant about my family. I'ma just say one thing; Mother Dearest, calling one of my friends an 'ignorant bitch' is not a nice way to start a conversation. It doesn't win you any points with me. In fact, it makes me rather angry and I would like for you to stop complaining about people you don't even know. Sincerely, your daughter.
Alright. Next point is at my own head. If I am told to learn, say, three words in Japanese, I'm perfectly fine. If I get a list, my brain goes NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO and promptly shuts down. This is really unproductive of you, self, and I wish you'd stop this stupid panicking thing you do. Kthx.
My Japan Shimeji is wearing a kimono, and when he crawls along the top of the screen, the kimono slips and shows way too much of his legs. I am so glad it doesn't slip any further.
This is quite awkward. I'm going to put him away and bring Denmark out.
K, Denmark is here in a cool hat. Much better.
D'aww he's sitting next to Romano.
Romano still looks grumpy like the little bitch he is. I absolutely adore him and his cute little angry face though.
Erm, yes, anyway. Moving right along.
Next point is aimed at teachers. I'm in more than one class. As such, I am expected (Denmark just did a flying leap to catch up with Romano who is halfway up my page. Guys that was the coolest thing ever) to do assignments and homework for all of my subjects. Not just yours. Also, I do instrumental of my own free will. Don't get all upset because I miss a lesson due to being sick. That is hardly my fault. Stop stressing out, it's not my problem that you have only a few good players so every little fault we make angers you to no end. Get over yourself. I have plenty to do. If you don't stop pushing me, I'll happily leave. I'm not following music after school. There is no reason for me to continue playing in your bands. So make this year worth my while and stop stressing me out.
Next point: People annoy me.
K, that ain't the story guize. You lot should've known that already x3
If you have a problem with me, or if I've done something... or, hell, if I haven't done something, then tell me.
I don't much like being ignored. Or well, more to the point, spoken to one moment and then totally ignored the next. I think I'm being toyed with.
Dang. My Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time OST cover(s) by Zelda Reorchestrated just finished. Dang. Guess I'll go listen to 近藤浩治's original OST's now. LoZ: Majora's Mask sounds good.
The other thing is, erm, anger management, perhaps? I don't like confrontations at the best of times. I think I hate proper arguments because of my mother, actually (I really do love her. I just hate certain things she does...). That's not the point. I just want to say that, you know, there's no need to get riled up over insignificant things. And there's no need to stoop so low as to throw overly-personal insults at each other (Romano just sat down next to Denmark of his own accord!!! Hahaha, despite your angry-face, you need friends too, don't you chibi-Romano~). The way I see it, everyone has their own demons to face right now. Everyone. So none of us need the added stress of being put down during a petty argument.
Lolol this soundtrack is the greatest thing ever. It's so twisted. Like your face. Take that. Bitch. Mmhm.

Here's an example of mah Shimeji's. Italy is on the ground, Japan is the one falling from the sky~

No More Tests This Term =D
I did my last test today. I've been sick since Saturday and had barely eaten for just as long, so my concentration was shot. But hey, at least I did the test right?
Speaking of being sick, what on earth comes up when you have nothing else left in your stomach to throw up? It hurts to throw it up so I'm assuming it isn't good. Bile? Stomach lining? Ouch, I'm going to go and assume that it wasn't my stomach lining.
9/10 (depending on region/timezones) days before Pokemon Black and White come out in Japan. I'm excited for the influx of information we'll get. I predict that Mijumaru will end up more popular than Pokablu (sp? I'm too lazy to google how that's spelled) despite the hoards of people who hated the cute little otter at first. Tsutaaja will remain popular. That's pretty obvious.
I also think I should start saving up my cash if I actually want to buy one of the games D=
I'm going to play Zelda: OoT Masterquest again after the album I'm listening to finishes (Transatlanticism by Death Cab for Cutie, by the way). I'm currently at the entrance to the Fire Temple. Whoop whoop ^_^
Here's some lyrics from Tiny Vessels by Death Cab. Love this song.
I wanted to believe in all the words that I was speaking
As we moved together in the dark
And all the friends that I was telling
All the playful misspellings
And every bite I gave you left a mark
Tiny vessels oozed into your neck
And formed the bruises
That you said you didn't want to fade
But they did, and so did I that day

New Black 'N White Pokemon
I've been looking over the newest Pokemon that have been revealed for Black and White. This is what I've noted so far.
- Kibago does not look like a dragon type. Error? Or just awesomeness?
- If Mamanbou isn't an evolution of Luvdisc, I will eat my hat.
- Shikijika changes forms depending on the seasons. Does this mean that the Pokemon games will now have seasons?
- This Gen has some epic Psychic types.
- Emonga is the cutest thing I have seen and is Electric/Flying. I am catching one, dang it.
I now use my laptop with the CD drive open because it's annoying me. If the computer starts loading something and struggles/lags a bit, it just starts making noises as if it were trying to read the disc that's in it. o_O
I'm still fangasming over the Ocarina of Time remake. I want it now.
And that is my report for the last few weeks. I haven't done much. Ciao.

Nintendo 3DS
This is a copy from what I posted on my Facebook, written while I was still fangasming over the E3 stuff. Enjoy =D
--
OK. So, Nintendo has been pushing the envelope with the DS. We've had the DS, the DS Lite, the DSi and the DSi XL. First they made it smaller, and then they made it larger again. Why? Probably just to drain our wallets. It seemed pretty gimmicky and we all realized awhile ago that Nintendo needed something new in the handheld department. Something to raise the bar up just that little bit higher.
Well, it's here. The newest addition to the Nintendo family, the 3DS. Don't be confused by the name. It sounds like a DS, and the actual product looks like a DS. But it's forgivable this time, because the new features will blow you away.
To start off, I'll talk about the physical aspects. When first presented at E3, it looked like a DS lite with an extra coat of paint and redesigned cameras. It goes without saying that the 3DS is only slightly different in appearance to the DS lite. They’re about the same size. I believe there is a 0.1 inch difference in width. The final design is unknown (obviously we've only seen a prototype) but I really like the sleek look of this system. It's the same square shape with the curved edges, much like the DSi but even more curvaceous. It appears to have gone back on the matte finish (thankfully so) and seems to have a texture much like the DS lite. The area surrounding the top screen is in black, unlike the rest of the 3DS which can be in either blue or red. Or, for those who are more conservative, you can choose to have the entire console in black. There is now a home button, which I can only assume acts in the same way as the power button on the DSi when pressed down for a mere second. There is also a power button, unlike the slide from the DS lite. The power light is no longer in the middle of the DS and is now down the very front, while the headphone port has moved toward the centre of the front panel. All in all, it's a very nice design, although the power button is in an awkward position. I can easily see my right hand slipping and having myself accidentally restart the game.
Another new feature would be the joystick or, as the official site calls it, the 'slidepad'. From what I've heard, it doesn't move as much as an actual joystick does, and would probably only be used for in-game camera adjustments. There are three cameras, one above the top screen and two on the outside. The two outside cameras are for taking 3D shots (And possibly videos), which is quite possibly done by taking the images using the two different perspectives and then combining them. While I question the photo quality, this is quite a novel idea. The 3DS also has motion and gyro sensors. At E3, Satoru Iwata claimed that you could watch special content and movies in clear 3D (naming off companies such as Disney, Dreamworks and Warner Brothers, who were apparently all for the idea). The movies would be shown in widescreen on the top (3.53 inch screen, 800x240 pixel resolution), while the touch screen's use during movies is currently unknown. Both screens are LCD and the touch screen is slightly smaller, at 3.02 inches. It is able to play the old DS games (using the same game slot as the newer 3DS games as they use the same sized card) although I know that's not what we really care about at this point.
The biggest incentive to buy this handheld is the 3D aspect. Unlike the 3D televisions we're currently being told to buy, the 3DS does not require special 3D glasses. That's right; you're supposed to see the 3D graphics with your own eyes. Does that sound impossible? Yes. Is it impossible? Well, not quite.
It's not the 3D that we may have been misled to believe. No, the characters are not going to jump out of the screen. From what I've heard, the characters will just stand out more. They look like you can actually touch them. The 3D effect adds more depth, perhaps, but probably won't be too involved with the gameplay. Regardless, it's a very nice added touch and if you really dislike having the extra dimension, you can turn it off. Nintendo has stayed true to its name and made sure that it is accessible to all players. In fact, there isn't just an on/off button for the 3D graphics. There's a slider, so you can find any degree between 2D and 3D that you find comfortable. Only want a little touch of the 3rd dimension? Just slide the slider up a tiny bit. While this is more of a safety net for Nintendo in case of backlash against the 3D feature, it does give the user something else to customize. And this is never a bad thing.
While I can't say anything about the sound quality or actual gameplay as of yet (not much has really been revealed) the graphics are amazing for a handheld device. The beta screenshots are superb. I definitely see the appeal of watching movies on it (let's just hope that Nintendo executes this add-on well) and the graphics so far look very, very good. Nintendo is not known for its graphics. We all know that. But the 3DS's graphics definitely surpass the Gamecube’s and almost rival the Wii’s. Some of the games are even better than the Wii's graphics. This might not seem like much, but as I said, you have to remember that this is a handheld device. This has been spawned from the DSi which, even from a distance, looks pixelated and block-y. Yet this newer system is surprisingly smooth and clear. Hell, this is a lot better than the PSP. My only problem with it so far is that you have to be viewing the screen head on to see the image properly, and if you're even slightly too far to the side the screen will not be clear. My guess is that if you turned off the 3D effect, you would be able to see it from side angles better, but once again I can't be sure. Regardless, the general consensus online is that the 3D effect is amazing.
Onto the current games list. So far, the 3DS has had a huge response from third-party developers. Some third-party games that are confirmed to be released on the 3DS include 'Resident Evil Revelations', 'The Sims 3', 'Assassin's Creed: Lost Legacy', a new Sonic game, another Final Fantasy title and another Kingdom Hearts game (the last three without final names yet). From the released screenshots, 'The Sims 3' graphics are much like what 'The Sims 2' managed on PC. They are still nice, but they aren't the greatest. However, that was the worst of the bunch, with Kingdom Hearts looking absolutely fantastic compared to its previous DS title. Of course, these don't compare to the official Nintendo games that are soon to be released. As always, a new Mario game will be created for the 3DS, as well as Mario Kart and Animal Crossing. Nintendogs now features cats as well, Paper Mario is back once again, and there will be remakes of StarFox 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (!!!).
Animal Crossing appears to have had a makeover with the main characters. You can now customize more than just shirts, giving the girls dresses, skirts or pants. The characters are no longer as stumpy and have quite a bit of height added to them. They are very Mii like in appearance. The graphics are notably better than the Wii Animal Crossing and are much more in depth. The shading is done extraordinarily well and the water looks brilliant.
Paper Mario is very clean. There are a few badly rendered curves, but once again the shading is very, very good. Mario Kart, on the other hand, is a bit of a letdown. It still looks very good, don't get me wrong, but I was expecting more. The camera angle is also very awkward, so that may have impacted on my judgment of the graphics.
The original Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a very, very in depth game, and Nintendo has clearly put time into trying to recreate the original setting. It's clearly not a port from the Nintendo 64 version. The graphics are much clearer. StarFox 64 has had the most improvement, with very nice colouring and scenes that will be perfect with the added 3D.
The biggest example here would have to be Kid Icarus Uprising. The graphics don't seem to be as polished as the others, but as the first 3DS title to have a trailer I am still very impressed. The glow on Pit's wings is perfect. There's not much else for me to say about it.
Overall, the system has had much support from many third party developers, despite the fact that the console itself isn’t even complete. With exclusive content from Disney, Warner Brothers and Dreamworks, the 3DS is not just a gaming system but a tool for viewing movies. Game-wise, Konami, Ubisoft and Capcom are just three of the third-party companies bringing out new games on the 3DS (Metal Gear Solid, Assassin’s Creed and Resident Evil, respectively) while Nintendo also brings out it’s old favourites. Not to mention the sequels to NES and SNES games that are being made, allowing Nintendo to keep the ‘something for everyone’ stance that they’ve adopted. Like always, they’re attempting to bridge the gap between casual and hardcore gamers. Whether that goal has been reached is debatable (hell, we haven’t seen any actual gameplay yet. We only have titles) but so far the online fanbase is very pleased. Generally, the 3DS is not disappointing. I’m very interested to see where this new system leads, and I have a feeling that this is the dawn of a very good era for Nintendo.
