Good Fandom. Best Friend.

I've been into Homestuck (as you can tell from the title here) and Harry Potter recently, but ended up getting into the Hetalia Halloween event anyway. I joined late, but didn't miss too much, and spent the last 4 or 5 days refreshing for updates.

After all the bitching and hate towards Hetalia, I had forgotten how amazing the fandom really could be. Everyone is just so excited over this event and I expect them to remain so over the next few days. It all feels pretty positive. And after a few people complained over the USUK hints, the LJ comm had this huge lovefest. Someone would name a ship and people would come to talk about it and why they loved it.

There was little hate, and the comments that were hate-filled were primarily ignored. It was brilliant. There weren't many shipping wars or anything (I saw some complaints on Tumblr, but they were few and far between) and everything was really jovial and lighthearted. And accepting. I like to think that we managed to really sidestep the "all hetafags are assholes" theory that I keep seeing around the 'net.

I mustered up the courage to post on LJ, and ended up talking to a few people on there. It was pretty sweet.

So yeah, I'm feeling pretty positive. The whole event was really good. The newest appearance, India, is looking damn fine. Prussia was epic, and Romano... wow, ahahaha. It was nice to see him acting a little more affectionate towards Spain as well. Moreso than usual, I believe.

The UKUS shipper in me is also rejoicing. It did not escape my notice that Batman and Robin are one of the most ambiguously gay superhero pairs out there, and that America specifically searched out England to dress up with him. Come on, that's just... maybe I'm looking too far into it, but damn I ship them so hard right now.

I'm going to be in a very Hetalia-oriented frame of mind for the next few days.

Anime Survey Challenge

I am in love with these quizzes right now.

Pick 5 of your anime (in no particular order) and answer the following questions about them:
1. Inuyasha

2. Hetalia

3. Death Note

4. Soul Eater

5. Angel Beats!

Who is your favorite character in #2?
South Italy/Romano/Lovino Vargas. Whatever you want to call him.

Who is your least favorite character in #1?
Hm. Jaken. I have never seen a creature so damn annoying in my life.

What’s your favorite episode of #4?
I haven't seen very much, to be honest. Thus far? Uh, probably when Maka is fighting Crona, and ends up 'embracing' the madness the black blood brings. That was pretty epic.

What is your favorite season of #5?
There are only 13 episodes... so... um... 1?

What’s your favorite relationship in #3?
Rofl. L/Light. Fanfics about these two are so much fun to read, so long as you don't depict them as perfectly happy lovers. C'mon, that just doesn't fit.

Who is your anti-relationship in #2?
Why is there such a fanbase for Itacest and Germancest? Guys. They're brothers. It's weird.

How long have you watched #1?
I first watched an episode of Inuyasha 5 years ago.

How did you become interested in #3?
Uh... hm... I'm not really sure. I probably read good things about it somewhere and then looked it up.

Who is your favourite actor in #4?
Todd Haberkorn who voices Death the Kid. I know he's from the dub and all, but that doesn't mean that I don't love the guy and his voice.

Which show do you prefer out of #1, 2 & 5?
You can't make me choose between Inuyasha and Hetalia! I think I prefer Hetalia in general, but if we're only talking about the anime, than Inuyasha wins out easily. Very easily.

Which show have you seen more episodes of, #1 or 3?
Inuyasha. Death Note doesn't have that many episodes to view, really.

If you could be any character from #4 who would you be?
I know that this is standard and boring, but probably Maka. She's strong, she's pretty, she's smart and her partner is Soul. I also see shipping between her and either Soul or Kid, and hell, I'd date either of them, so that's cool with me. xD

How would you kill off your favorite character in #2?
What. I refuse. No. No. No.
...fine. Well, if I had to kill my precious Lovi off, I guess I'd make it pretty awesome. He's affiliated with the mafia, right? I can't remember if that's canon or fanon... anyway, I'd have him doing something with them, idk what (protecting Spain somehow? Yes. The shipper in me likes that idea), and he'd get shot. What's that cliche? Going down in 'a hail of bullets' or something? Yeah. Like that. Kinda like Scarface, maybe? But more epic and with less drugs involved.

Give a random quote from #1
Miroku: I was wondering if you would bare my children?
There are plenty of epic quotes, but that was seriously all I could think of xD

Would a #3/4 crossover work?

Death Note/Soul Eater? Hm... Soul Eater is so much more lighthearted... but I mean, they both have shinigami... sort of... and Kid kinda resembles L... kinda... yeah I don't think it'd work...

Overall, which show has a better cast, #3 or 5?
3. Death Note.

Which has better music, #2 or 4?
Their soundtracks are so different though... I was never all that keen on Soul Eater's soundtrack though... Kid has some epic themes, but... eh... so I guess I'll go with the happy cuteness that is the Hetalia OST.

Fandom Quiz Time

Because you can never have too many quizzes (if quizzes are quizzical, what are tests? Hehehe). I shall answer questions on Angel Beats!, Death Note, Inuyasha, Pokemon Adventures/Special, Harry Potter, Zelda and Hetalia. ^^

Fandom: Angel Beats!
Favorite Character: Angel/Kanade.
Least Favorite Character: Ah, Noda, probably.
Most Attractive Character: Iwasawa ♥
Character I Wanna Marry: Hinata~
Character I Wanna Be Best Friends With: Hm. Otonashi. Which is a boring answer, really.
Favorite Pairing: Otonashi/Kanade
Favorite Episode/issue/etc: When Kanade is in hospital and Otonashi regains his memories while lying on her chest♥
Unpopular Opinion: I truly do believe that they didn't meet up again. The scene where it shows Otonashi meeting up with Angel was, in my opinion, something he imagined so he himself could be reincarnated. Sorta like how Hinata helped Yui imagine having a happy life so she could be reborn or whatever.

Fandom: Death Note
Favorite Character: L. Just to be generic.
Least Favorite Character: Near
Most Attractive Character: Matt Matt Matt Matt Matt. ♥
Character I Wanna Marry: Rofl. None of them? I love Matt but that's mostly fanon. L, I guess..?
Character I Wanna Be Best Friends With: Mello. He'd get into some crazy stuff. Never a dull moment.
Favorite Pairing: I like pairing L/Light as a hate pairing, but I think Mello/Matt is the only one I actually ship.
Favorite Episode/issue/etc: The one episode with Matt. =/
Unpopular Opinion: I see many redeeming features in Light. Sometimes I think I am the only one who does so.

Fandom: Inuyasha
Favorite Character: Inuyasha. How dull.
Least Favorite Character: Kikyo. Definitely.
Most Attractive Character: Sesshomaru.
Character I Wanna Marry: Hm... I guess I'd go with Inuyasha.
Character I Wanna Be Best Friends With: ...Inuyasha again. Heh. Or Miroku.
Favorite Pairing: InuKag.
Favorite Episode/issue/etc: Dunno. The one where Kagome is chillin' with the wolves and is wearing the Robe of the Fire Rat, so when Inuyasha is caught in an explosion he's not protected and Kagome is so sure that he's been killed.
Unpopular Opinion: I don't think I have an unpopular opinion on this.

Fandom: Pokemon Special.
Favorite Character: Silver
Least Favorite Character: Emerald. I hate him so much.
Most Attractive Character: Green (male) ♥
Character I Wanna Marry: Hm. Sapphire. I'd totally turn lesbian for her.
Character I Wanna Be Best Friends With: Red. He'd be very easy to befriend, as would Gold.
Favorite Pairing: Franticshipping (Ruby/Sapphire)
Favorite Episode/issue/etc: Like, the entirety of the Ruby/Sapphire arc. I am such a shipper. I also loved the FireRed/LeafGreen arc.
Unpopular Opinion: I don't like Yellow. Everyone seems to, but I really, really don't. I've never liked pairing her with Red, either...

Fandom: Harry Potter Series
Favorite Character: I have way too many. Draco, Sirius, Snape and the twins are all awesome.
Least Favorite Character: Ginny.
Most Attractive Character: Hermione, in the movie. In the books I always envisioned the twins as being adorable.
Character I Wanna Marry: Eh... One of the twins. I don't know which, to be honest... I think I've always felt more affectionate towards George...
Character I Wanna Be Best Friends With: Luna! Definitely.
Favorite Pairing: I don't know... either James/Sirius or Harry/Luna.
Favorite Episode/issue/etc: My favourite book was The Half-Blood Prince, but my favourite movie was Prisoner of Azkaban.
Unpopular Opinion: I've never really had an issue with any of the changes the movies made. I can understand why most of the changes were made, so...

Fandom: Zelda series
Favorite Character: Midna.
Least Favorite Character: Princess Ruto. =_=
Most Attractive Character: Princess Zelda. Duh.
Character I Wanna Marry: I have absolutely no idea... Prince Komali, maybe. Who doesn't want a husband who can fly?
Character I Wanna Be Best Friends With: Tetra. How epic would it be to travel with a pirate?
Favorite Pairing: Link/Dark Link. Yeah, so, Dark Link is barely in the games. I still find the whole concept of the great hero finding love with his shadow really intriguing.
Favorite Episode/issue/etc: Windwaker or Ocarina of Time would be my favourite games. Probably OoT. Manga wise, I liked the Four Swords manga.
Unpopular Opinion: I like cell-shaded Link. I also loved Twilight Princess. Yeah, they're easier than the other games, but the plots and characters are still very deep and fun to get into.

Fandom: Hetalia
Favorite Character: Romano~
Least Favorite Character: Uh... I don't even know... France..? I hardly hate him though.
Most Attractive Character: Spain. DAT ASS~ etc.
Character I Wanna Marry: Spain would be the best husband, hands down. He's so kind and happy and ♥. That said... I kinda love Romano. A lot. I think he can be suave when he wants to (oh, who am I kidding, he represents South Italy, of course he can be suave), but he has a temper and I think I'd need that extra challenge in a relationship to keep from getting bored.
Character I Wanna Be Best Friends With: Prussia. Think of all the crazy shit we'd get up to~
Favorite Pairing: Spamano. Not just because Spain and Romano are uber attractive. Of course not.
Favorite Episode/issue/etc: Guh... uh... I've always loved the strips from when England was raising young!America. I also adore Boss Spain and Chibi!Romano, but that's just for my love of Romano... The Valentines Day strips are cute and very amusing as well.
Unpopular Opinion: I don't think this opinion is unpopular, but it's oddly uncommon anyway. I hate seeing England as being all weak and dependent on some stronger country. He was the fucking British Empire. What the hell guys.
Also, I love Mafia!Romano. There's an odd lack of fan stuffs for the mafia side of Italy, actually. This depresses me greatly.

Rambling is a Funny Word

You know what I hate? When you go to input a password, and the computer is like THIS PASSWORD IS TOO SHORT/WEAK/ETC and tells me to change it. It's like, dude, it's my security, I don't give a damn, GIVE ME MY BLOODY PASSWORD. ASDFGHJKL

I also hate when the school computers tell you to change your password every few weeks and won't let you repeat one. My last password was ILikeCake. The one before that was qwertyuiop and before that I had asdfghjkl. The one before that was ComputerPW4. Before that came ComputerPW3, ComputerPW2 and ComputerPW.

Dad's password was FridgeMagnet before he changed it.

I just got a new computer. Well, it's not really new. It's a collection of old things put together to make a working computer. Sort of like patchwork or something. There's all sorts of stuff in there. Anyway, the wallpaper rotates between a bunch of images. These images are all bright and, no joke, full of rainbows, love hearts, little animals and household appliances with big grins. I got this computer from my dad. This is weird. I need to go find a new wallpaper.

In Rome, it's illegal to keep a fish in a fish bowl. Really. I can't help but imagine this in the Hetalia universe... Spain was probably chillin' with Romano, and was like "Roma~" and Romano was probably like "shut up bastard, go do my paperwork or something, make yourself useful" and then Spain would've been all "okay" because he's a nice guy like that. And while working he was probably thinking about how sad and lonely fish look when in fish bowls and then he went and made fish bowls illegal in Rome. It totally sounds like something Spain would do =3

I just rambled at Dad for about 10 minutes. I mustn't have made much sense, because he interrupted me to say "I'm glad you go back to school tomorrow. You need to learn something so that your brain starts working again". Ouch.

I've been listening to Megaherz recently, and someone on Twitter told me to look up Oomph! because they are similar. I told Dad about this. This is what Dad has to say about all German industrial metal:

Me: [...]and then I looked up this other metal band-
Dad: Language?
Me: German.
Dad: Oh! So it all sounds like Rammstein?
Me: ... =_=

Pretty sure Rammstein is only popular because their lyrics are so horrifying. Brb Wikipedia-ing

"In addition, the songs "Amerika", "Stirb nicht vor mir//Don't Die Before I Do," and "Pussy" contain lyrics in English. The song "Moskau" ("Moscow") contains a chorus in Russian, and they sing some of their own songs entirely in Russian (including but not only Pussy, and the Russian song штиль). "Te quiero puta!" is entirely in Spanish. Oliver Riedel commented that, "German language suits heavy metal music. French might be the language of love, but German is the language of anger.""

Whoooo languages. My family mostly speak the language of anger. I think that is awesome. Also, lol, French is the language of love. Yeah, well, y'all know my opinion on that.
Speaking of which, I've heard some damn fine French metal, so you know....

I am so guilty of this. I also have the tendency to fill up my desktop completely and then think "whoops, I can't see my wallpaper anymore". My solution? Highlight everything, create a folder called Desktop and move everything into said folder. This is great, except I end up filling my desktop again and have to create another desktop folder. I have a folder on my desktop called 'desktop'. Inside of that folder is another folder called 'desktop'. Inside that is another folder called 'desktop'. I don't know how far this goes. I should count that one day.

Anyway. It gets really bad when you do open up these 'desktop' folders, because a lot of them are full of files that I have titled by slamming my keyboard. I didn't realise that this was a bad idea until I went to find an assignment only to discover that I had a good 30 word documents with titles like "awenfahngf asdkngfasd" and "okijergrgtre08jgnrt".

It's pretty cool when I go to title something with "dfihydsfsdgfe" and it's like "you already have a document titled dfihydsfsdgfe". That's only happened once to me so far, though. I also name all the blocks in my Sims game by whacking the keyboard, so in the town of "vc" I have houses named "fsd" "t" "324" and "t43g".

Heh. Reading that was great fun because 'words' like "dfihydsfsdgfe" are read as gibberish in my mind. I actually pronounce something in my head (usually something random that probably sounds nothing like the word I'm trying to read). I don't know why that interests me.

There's some carbon tax being implemented here in Australia. I didn't care much until I heard that it's going to affect costs of airline tickets (which should've been obvious but I fail at life so shut the hell up). Aw assballs. This has ruined my day. I mean, yeah, it's only an extra $3, but still. That $3 could make or break a holiday, you know!

I'm thinking about getting a Tumblr account. I don't really know how it works, but I keep finding hilarious images on there so... Plus I kinda use Tumblr for shipping goodness. You know when you find a page full of random stuff about your favourite ship? And you react by grinning and hugging whatever's nearby?

Yeah. Yeah, it's sorta like that.

I've been doing that all day while browsing Tumblr. All day. It's friggin' awesome. ♥

I've noticed that everyone seems to like Earl Grey tea. Except me. I'll go to someone's place and it's like "would you like some tea" and I say yes, and then they say "sugar, milk, honey, anything?" and I always say "No, thank you" and then they go ahead and make it. That's great. So far so good, yeah? But I've noticed that, even if they have a vast range of different types of tea in their cupboard (My Grandma has something like 6 or 7), they always assume that I'll want Earl Grey. No one ever asks. They just go "oh, yeah, everyone likes that one".
Goddamn it.

By the way, if you ever say tea cup in a British accent (one of the posh accents, I mean), I will never take you seriously ever again. Just so you all know.

Oh! So if you bite both ends of a Tim Tam and dip one end into your tea/coffee/hot beverage and suck the other, like a straw, you end up melting the middle of it (yes, that should be obvious, but really, who actually thinks I'm going to use my Tim Tam as a straw!???) and it is amazing. It just... I don't know, but something about melted Tim Tam is so damn good. Om nom nom.

You know how the Bad Touch Trio/Bad Friends Trio/Prussia, Spain and France are depicted in fanworks? I don't know how to explain it, but there's just this degree of crazy idiotic absolutely insane awesome to everything they do. They're always shown as really comfortable with each other and doing stupid stuff to each other that you should probably get slapped for and I dunno, it's just epic, and I want friends just like that k thanks ^_^

Yes. Super-Obama is featuring in my dreams tonight guize.

Fandom Rant

Sometimes I feel ashamed of the Hetalia fandom.
I'm not the only one, and a quick Google search will show how many others agree with this sentiment. I'm not sure why there's so much hate in this fandom, but it's there, and it gives the rest of the fans a bad name. This is the reason that I've only ever been a lurker on the LJ comm and why I tend to avoid any Hetalia-orientated forums or threads. I love the comic, I love the characters, I love the creator, and I love a great deal of the fans, too. But there's a very vocal minority that absolutely pisses me off, and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth every time they get mentioned.

'Hatedom' really shouldn't be such an issue. I figure that, so long as you don't flame others for their opinions and you don't outright denounce another fan for their views, then everything should be fine. Opinions are good. Everyone has them, everyone wants to share them. It just seems that some of the fans can't do so without bashing those with different opinions to them. Variation is good, guys. Stop trying to make everyone think the same way. And no, bashing the views of someone else is not debating. It's bashing. Don't defend yourself by claiming to be starting a good-natured debate.

My biggest issue with the fandom, though? It'd be the useage of the word 'rape'. If someone likes a different 'ship to you, that doesn't give you reason enough to threaten them with rape. Obviously, with the relative anonymity of the internet, it's pretty difficult for you to rape them, but even so, that's not a suitable threat to make. It's totally uncalled for. Don't make threats of a sexual nature. It's just wrong. I do remember at one point, possibly doing the Hetalia Bloodbath updates Himaruya was writing, a fan actually threatened him with rape and murder for not updating fast enough. Why the hell would you threaten the author? If you had any decency, you'd know that Himaruya is human, so he isn't going to update immediately, nor will he bend to your every whim. You'd also realise that things like that would make him less likely to update. I certainly wouldn't be pandering to a fandom who would make such ridiculous and horrid threats to me.

Then again, this is the fandom that once had a group of cosplayers doing the Hitler salute at a Holocaust memorial, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised by any of this. Thank God I haven't seen the image myself.

Creating a hategroup is just asking for attention and drama. There's an anti-hetalia page on DevArt, as well as a forum. Get the fuck over it, guys. If you hate the series, then don't pay attention to it. Believe it or not, we're not forcing you to read the comic/watch the anime. And unless you decide to attack us directly, then believe me when I say that none of us are paying attention to your little hateclub. I don't see the point in creating one. I don't see the point in hating something so strongly when you could be putting your time into finding something you do like.

The thing with Hetalia is that there's a lot of love for everyone within the fandom, as well. The 'ship wars aren't very frequent and most members are quick to back up others, regardless of differences between them. The Hetalia Kink Meme, which is where anyone can request anything (not just of R rating, guys. I know it says 'kink', but let's get our minds out of the gutter here...), whether it be fanart or fanfiction, and there's very little judgment for it. There aren't many fandoms where that could happen. But this is usually overshadowed by the more negative things, despite there being more positives.

Yes, the series can be offensive. Yes, the characters are often based off of stereotypes. It's a comedy. South Park is more offensive than this. And if you're easily offended, then maybe you should take a step away from the series and move on.

Truly, most of the arguments against the series are more offensive than the comic has ever been.

(This rant brought to you by a dull afternoon, a Google search on "Hetalia fandom hate" and a read of the Hetalia Wank LJ page, which is not to be confused with the Kink Meme. 'Wank' here is synonymous with 'rant')

Celebration

I have finished all assignments for this term. This means that there is only one term (which is, what, nine weeks long?) left of high school for me.

Well, technically there are two terms left, but no one even tries in term four. It doesn't even count really.

It's kinda scary. Actually, it's very scary. I'm terrified of the future. But hey, no use worrying about it. Just got to keep trying and not stress too much.

My enter key isn't working properly, and it is really annoying.

Anyway, it's a good night to celebrate. I am downloading music for Clearly Unfocused (btw I just realised what an awesome contradiction your screen name is here, bro) and reading fanfiction. The Hetalia LJ just exploded with Spamano fics, so I am one happy girl.

I'm tired, so I'll probably have an early night and late morning. I am so pleased with my results, and it just hit me how relieved I really am. And tired. Oh, so tired.

MILESTONE POST (HetaOni Fanart Timez)

Post number 100, people. I am very proud. In celebration of this, this post will basically be a HetaOni fanart dump. 'Cause, you know, you can never have too much HetaOni fanart. (Scroll down for fanartz btw. I like to babble, and I've done quite a bit of babbling before the fanart here)

I'm attempting to get Phantomess to watch HetaOni. It's always awkward to advertise. It's like "yeah so, don't judge until you get to episode 4 or so... I mean, the alien is kinda narm, and the character portraits are bad, and at first it's a bit boring, but... just... stick with it" x3

Also, I FOUND ANOTHER TRACK. For those who downloaded the zip archive of HetaOni tracks from MediaFire, the track titled 'Italy' is actually 'Lost in Hopelessness' by Yusuke Tsutsumi. You can listen to and buy it here. Truthfully, I didn't find this one at all... I found the link on this site while looking up moar fanartz. But, you know, it was found by someone, and that's what matters.
I am one step closer to having all my HetaOni tracks titled correctly.
EDIT: AND ANOTHER ONE. It's so much easier now that I have the ripped MP3's to compare with. In the zip folder there is a track called "Support From the Outside". The original is called 'Sin a Sin' and can be downloaded here.
My Japanese is pretty limited, but I believe the main composers of the site are 中村イネ and オリィヴ. That said, I think you should credit the artist as 'Green Tone' which is the name of the website.
EDIT2: windsphere.biz also has some tracks that were used in HetaOni. Now, I'm a bit perplexed by this. There are two tracks in the zip folder that sound almost identical to me. I can't tell the difference at all. Anyway, these would be the tracks titled 'Memories' and 'Somewhere You Want to Be'. They sound very similar to Call which you can find here. The next track... I'm not a hundred percent sure about. LiLAppleX uploaded 'Fairy Taler' as being from HetaOni, however this song doesn't appear to have been included in the zip file... hm. The song does sound familiar to me, though. Regardless, both these tracks should be credited to Windsphere. Also, I didn't technically find these ones myself. All the work was done by LiLAppleX on Youtube.
Okay, I've just gone and raided the rest of LiLAppleX's video's to see what else she's discovered. The track titled 'Magic' in the zip is actually the song 'Eden' which is also composed by Yusuke Tsutsumi. LiLAppleX has also uploaded the song 'Cyber Prisoner' by 'Senses Circuit'. I haven't found the song on that website yet, but I will keep looking. The beginning sounds an awful lot like the song labeled 'Battle 2' in the zip folder, but they aren't identical.

Anyway, moving on, you may now have a heap of fanart. YAY. I haven't made any of these. Most of them I found on DeviantArt and Google images. You should be able to click on the image to see a full size version

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Try saying my name."

"R-Romano..."
"No! Say my full name!"
"...Italia. Italia Roma..no..."
"Yeah. That's right. I'm Italy, too. I don't know everything you remember, but I do plan on carrying at least a little of that burden on my shoulders."

HetaOni OST

I am really excited.
After so long, it seems we're able to download the HetaOni soundtrack.

LilAppleX on Youtube has uploaded a few tracks, if anyone else wants to go listen.
Also, A very nice soul from the HetaOni Facebook page has uploaded the OST in two parts on MediaFire. Looks like everyone decided to upload the OST on the 15th of this month O_O
Expect the next couple of posts to be unintelligible babble about HetaOni, guys.

There's a bit of confusion as to what the titles are. Chances are, a lot of the titles will be wrong as the tracks have been ripped from the Youtube videos and named after the various scenes they played in.

I'd been looking for these songs on the sites that the HetaOni creator credited, but... well, there's a lot of sites, most of them not in English, and there were a lot of tracks to sift through... and I kinda failed at finding them.

Also, just as proof that my searching was not completely for naught, if you download the OST from MediaFire there's a track that's titled 'Family'. The original version is by Presence of Music and is found here. Scroll down for the track called 'Vanity' ^_^ I'll continue searching for the other tracks because I like to have the correct artists labeled in my library, and also because the ripped tracks occasionally have sound effects over the top of them.

I was going to go to bed an hour ago, but ended up downloading these tracks and looking up HetaOni fanart. Whoops. I can't help it though. I've been wanting this soundtrack for ages. ♥

This series is full of clock and number motifs. And blood, obv. What do you expect from a horror RPG?

I think I'm way too excited about this. But, like, it's HetaOni!!! You cannot blame me for this. The songs used are some of the saddest and most bittersweet tracks I have ever heard. Depending on the song, you don't know whether to smile slightly or just burst into tears. Maybe both? (Unless you're listening to one of the actual horror tracks. Then you'll probably just want to hide under a blanket ^_^)

My entire week has improved ever so slightly because of this.

Good Enough

I have 1082 words for my English and it only comes in at 6 minutes long.
It was supposed to be 7 minutes, minimum. Oh well. Maybe I'll pretend to trip over half way through and spend a ridiculously long amount of time trying to get back up again to continue speaking.

I have this chronic fear of public speaking. If an assignment is meant to be 5 minutes long, I'll write it out to be around 6 minutes long because I know I'll panic on the day. And then on the day I'll only just make it over 5 minutes. I rush so I can get off stage quicker, I guess. I don't know if I expect people to laugh or to try and trip me or what, but something makes me panic every time.

Yeah, I kinda expect something like this to happen

Back in Primary school I was the vice captain of my grade. I had to speak every week on assembly, and I had no issue whatsoever. What happened? Oh well. My 12 year old self is crying at my failness, but that's okay.

I don't want to work anymore. My brain is fried. I just want to start memorising so I can go read/watch Hetalia and Higurashi (I do like anime that start with H, it would seem). I need to revise my favourite characters list for Hetalia. So here we go.

Hetalia faves:
1. Romano
2. England
3. Spain.
4. Denmark (for the hat, pretty much)
5. America
I have a love/hate thing for North Italy. I sometimes adore him, but sometimes I think "oh Italy, you don't deserve everything you've got =_="

Also, Higurashi faves:
1. Rena
2. Keiichi
3. Rika
4. Hanyuu
5. Shion
I don't like Mion much. And Satoshi is cute, but... I don't like his personality. So shoot me.

I really love gif images right now. Here, have another one.
Is it weird that I could watch America doing backflips all day? Here's a larger version if you're into that ♥

"But worry not, I emerged triumphant in the end. If by triumphant you mean shirtless"

The title is an awesome quote from an epic Hetalia fanfic. No, it's not as dirty as the quote makes it seem.

K, I've decided what course I'm doing for uni. I'm definite on it, now. Naturally, it involves Japanese. I'm also wanting to learn Italian. 'Cuz Italian is cool.
I wasn't into learning languages until last year. Oh, how things change. Don't get me wrong, I've loved Japanese culture for a few years now. I love their games. I love their television. I love their music. I just never felt the need to learn the language. Then, after watching Death Note, I discovered the band ナイトメア。Or Naitomea. Which is really just the Japanese approximation of the word nightmare. Gotta love all the ways of reading Japanese katakana.
Anyway, I was listening to them and absolutely adoring Yomi's vocals. He is very emotional with his singing. So I looked up a translation of the lyrics. But... it wasn't the same. I mean, the translations made sense and all, but it's not quite like hearing it for yourself. I realised then that I wanted to hear the song in its mothertongue. I didn't want a translation. I wanted to hear how it was written, the way it was supposed to be heard. I wanted to understand the vocalists intent rather than just read a translation that lacked the kind of emotion you could hear in the song itself.

That, my friends, is why I decided to learn Japanese. To listen to one band. Is this sad? Possibly. But it's kinda maybe changed my life (insert more corny phrases here). I mean, I ended up really loving the language. I soon came to appreciate the differences between English and Japanese; how rounded the language sounds in comparison, how simple it is grammatically, how complex the formalities are and just how different it is. And once you start really researching it, you can see how the culture is reflected in the language as well. It's interesting. It's fun. I've developed a love for the language, the history behind it, the country itself, the people, everything. Really, the language barrier is pretty bad. You miss out on so, so much by speaking only one language.

So I decided, hey, I may as well use this to my advantage. What can I do with Japanese? Well, I love video games and anime. Could I... I don't know... translate them?

Yes. Yes, I most certainly could.

It was only recently I decided I should do Italian. I watched the film The Bicycle Thief earlier this year and decided that this language sounded really, really cool. I ended up looking up plenty of languages, just to see how they all sound. I came back to Italian in the end though. Screw what everyone else says, French isn't the language of love. Italian is. It's beautiful, mmkay? I could talk for hours about what that language does to me. I adore it. Oh hay, you speak Italian? Excuse me while I take off my clothes.
I guess I'm also learning it so I can go to Italy and sample the pizza and pasta there. Viva Italia! :3

This has all lead to me looking up countries in general. I started watching Hetalia when I got an interest in countries, and that certainly jump-started things. I ended up learning some (slightly modified. Yeah, slightly...) world history through humour. Trust me, that's the best way to learn ^^. After watching each episode I'd look up the references. I started reading the webcomic as well. Eventually I started just outright looking up the countries online regardless of whether Hetalia had touched on said country and its history. I'm slowly but surely gaining knowledge on all sorts of world cultures, languages and history, for no reason other than my own interest.

Random fact: I've always hated flags, you know? They seem pointless and... I don't know why I dislike them. I just do. These days I do enjoy looking up the flags of each country and learning about what they represent, though.
And to think, all this random culture-immersion-stuff came from me listening to one band. xD

In conclusion, I am now going to study Japanese and Italian. And I have completely faith in myself with this. I'll get through, because I'm studying things that I enjoy. I will emerge triumphant in my language studies. Hopefully I will emerge with my shirt still firmly placed over my torso, though.

You know, watching Eurovision this year isn't really linked with all that. My good friend Tuo is very much in love with the show, and I am very glad I followed his lead. It also helps that the Hetalia fandom also appreciates this show. That said... I'm mostly watching now for the unintentional double entendre's that I kept hearing. Israel's entry for Eurovision this year was one of the more obvious ones. Honestly, the lyrics can be taken in a rather... awkward way.

♪Ding dong, say no more
I hear silent prayers
And it's making me high and fly
I know where to go and I'm coming now

See what I mean? I don't know how to take that. That last line... good lord, woman, keep it in your pants please. ^^

Rant #342

I love rants. By the time I've finished I am no longer angry :3 I'm currently ranting with my Hetalia Shimeji's roaming around my desktop, actually. Nothing better than getting mad while watching little chibi Japan's and Romano's climbing around my screen, Y/Y?

Here's an example of mah Shimeji's. Italy is on the ground, Japan is the one falling from the sky~

K, I always rant about my family. I'ma just say one thing; Mother Dearest, calling one of my friends an 'ignorant bitch' is not a nice way to start a conversation. It doesn't win you any points with me. In fact, it makes me rather angry and I would like for you to stop complaining about people you don't even know. Sincerely, your daughter.

Alright. Next point is at my own head. If I am told to learn, say, three words in Japanese, I'm perfectly fine. If I get a list, my brain goes NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO and promptly shuts down. This is really unproductive of you, self, and I wish you'd stop this stupid panicking thing you do. Kthx.

My Japan Shimeji is wearing a kimono, and when he crawls along the top of the screen, the kimono slips and shows way too much of his legs. I am so glad it doesn't slip any further.
This is quite awkward. I'm going to put him away and bring Denmark out.

K, Denmark is here in a cool hat. Much better.

D'aww he's sitting next to Romano.

Romano still looks grumpy like the little bitch he is. I absolutely adore him and his cute little angry face though.

Erm, yes, anyway. Moving right along.

Next point is aimed at teachers. I'm in more than one class. As such, I am expected (Denmark just did a flying leap to catch up with Romano who is halfway up my page. Guys that was the coolest thing ever) to do assignments and homework for all of my subjects. Not just yours. Also, I do instrumental of my own free will. Don't get all upset because I miss a lesson due to being sick. That is hardly my fault. Stop stressing out, it's not my problem that you have only a few good players so every little fault we make angers you to no end. Get over yourself. I have plenty to do. If you don't stop pushing me, I'll happily leave. I'm not following music after school. There is no reason for me to continue playing in your bands. So make this year worth my while and stop stressing me out.

Next point: People annoy me.

K, that ain't the story guize. You lot should've known that already x3

If you have a problem with me, or if I've done something... or, hell, if I haven't done something, then tell me.
I don't much like being ignored. Or well, more to the point, spoken to one moment and then totally ignored the next. I think I'm being toyed with.

Dang. My Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time OST cover(s) by Zelda Reorchestrated just finished. Dang. Guess I'll go listen to 近藤浩治's original OST's now. LoZ: Majora's Mask sounds good.

The other thing is, erm, anger management, perhaps? I don't like confrontations at the best of times. I think I hate proper arguments because of my mother, actually (I really do love her. I just hate certain things she does...). That's not the point. I just want to say that, you know, there's no need to get riled up over insignificant things. And there's no need to stoop so low as to throw overly-personal insults at each other (Romano just sat down next to Denmark of his own accord!!! Hahaha, despite your angry-face, you need friends too, don't you chibi-Romano~). The way I see it, everyone has their own demons to face right now. Everyone. So none of us need the added stress of being put down during a petty argument.

Lolol this soundtrack is the greatest thing ever. It's so twisted. Like your face. Take that. Bitch. Mmhm.

Confused but Relaxed. Yay~

Like, the day after I posted that rant, I was involved in some conversation with him. I wasn't exactly spoken to directly, but hey, I'm not going to complain.
I still doubt he read the blog post, but oh well. The rant hasn't been made redundant though. I'm still... eh, not annoyed, that's not the right word. I'm not exactly the happiest kid around though. Then again, the comments posted on my rant were epic and heartwarming. How can I be upset with all these guys with me?

Ah, well, anyway. I've spent the five-day-weekend doing very little. Eating chocolate (I haven't had a proper meal for three days. Yay Easter) and chilling. Dad tried to fix up our internet issues but has only succeeded in making them worse. My laptop can't even find the wireless network (though Dad's can, and the rest of the networks in the area show up fine for me) and the wired desktop has... er, issues. I don't even know how to explain it. It's like, every now and then half of my web pages won't load. Like yesterday, I could go on Google and browse Wikipedia, but every other site I went on wouldn't load. At all. Very weird indeed. So I've been playing The Sims on the laptop and listening to Hetalia music. As you do.
It's a good way to waste time. This weekend has been highly unproductive. It's brilliant.

The Hetalia cast's cover of "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" is adorable. Having the song sung in different languages (probably very fractured versions of the languages, but it's still cool) is strangely nice to listen to. It's... er, multicultural and awesome. Sugiyama-san's English is actually quite good though, so perhaps the other languages turned out alright as well? I can't tell. Regardless, it's an adorable track ^^

It Took A Lot To Not Name This Entry After Rebecca Black

I was going to write something along the lines of 'party and party and YEAH' or 'fun fun fun fun' as the title, but I shall refrain from doing that. Besides, I've already used both of those in previous posts.
(Also, I will admit to not knowing what words to capitalise and what words to leave entirely in lower case when writing titles. Whoops. Guess I'll just capitalise the entire thing and hope nobody notices).

It took two hours, but I managed to write 900 words on a book I skimmed over, analysing it with a literary theory that I don't fully understand. I am so proud of myself.
Who the hell decided I should go with formalism? Oh wait, that was me. Well then. That was a stupid idea, wasn't it?
Now to go finish my Drama assignment. Aw dang. That's going to suck.

This house is great with bugs and creepy crawlies. Gradually, a family of baby spiders spread out across the ceiling. I was typing away happily (or not so happily) when I just so happened to look up. They were both above and in front of me. It was quite creepy, but I couldn't be bothered moving so I just sort of... kept chilling with them. They seemed friendly enough, and only one was walking around. Perhaps the others were sleeping? Dad just came in and sprayed them for me so I have taken refuge in the other, less awesome lounge room. =3

The tiredness is slowly kicking in. My eyes feel kinda heavy but my brain seems to be alert still. I think today will be hell at school, but I'll live. Probably. Unless I get hit by a bus on the short trip from the car to the pavement outside the school. That seems rather unlikely, though stranger things have happened.

I survived my 3am working session and have worked more efficiently than I usually do. I still don't know why I work so much better in the morning. My attentiveness just kind of fades away into nothing by the afternoon. Which is rather unfortunate. I'm a bit of an insomniac so I always have trouble falling asleep. As such, I'll purposefully stay up late so I am tired when I go to bed and fall asleep immediately rather than end up tossing and turning all night. That, coupled with early mornings, can not be good.
I am my own worst enemy, it would seem.

The roosters just started making noise next door. Oh my God shut up fml.

Edit: I totally didn't spend the last 15 minutes downloading skins and meshes for Sims 2 based on Hetalia characters. Definitely not.

K, maybe I did. Whatever. My Death Note Sims are boring me. Light won't kill anyone and my one source of drama (ie: Mello sleeping with everyone) is no longer dramatic. Seems the rest of the Wammy kids' are perfectly okay with being cheated on. o_O Strange children.

Edit 2: I just found Sims 2 boxer shorts coloured in the different nations flags. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite as beautiful as this *flails* I don't even wear boxers and I desperately want a pair with the union jack on them<3

Heta Oni

Uninstall, uninstall,
I know longer have a choice but to pretend,
I am brave,
For a soldier has to be brave.

I don't watch people playing games. I either play the games myself, or participate in other ways (ie distracting the player). I think I watched one 'Let's Play' vid on Zelda: Ocarina of Time, but that was because the voice overs were hilarious.
Anyway, I have discovered an RPG that I am very happy to sit back and watch. Heta Oni is based off of Ao Oni which is a Japanese horror game. While Ao Oni is (obviously) an RPG, Heta Oni isn't actually playable. You just have to watch the videos of the 'gameplay' on Youtube. Which sounds boring. It's not. Trust me. It takes the original story but uses the characters from Axis Powers Hetalia (which is what got me interested in the first place). You don't really need to be familiar with the show to watch the RPG though.

You know, it's kind of like a fusion between Hetalia and Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni. Weird mix, that... strangely enough, it does work. Obviously Heta Oni isn't as violent (in fact, you see no gore whatsoever, it's just described... well, except for the white room covered in bloody handprints... that's it, though) but it seems to tug at the heartstrings more than Higurashi did.

It starts when Italy hears of a haunted house. He tells America, who convinces everyone else to go along. You soon find out it's not haunted with ghosts, but aliens. So obviously it's not going to be that scary. Aliens are overrated.
The first few episodes are really dull. As it goes on, the plot becomes more warped and twisted. Watching it is emotionally draining; you find yourself attached to these characters, and while the aliens truly aren't scary, you do feel scared for the characters. In episode 16 my heart was racing and I caught myself mouthing for the characters to stop and run and to be honest, I've never really reacted that badly to something.

If you're familiar with Higurashi, you'll find many similarities. I'm not sure how to describe this without adding spoilers... basically, it's a time loop. [Epic spoiler here]: If not everyone gets out alive, Italy or England will reverse time and they have to start all over again. This explains the OoC-ness at the beginning. Italy isn't terrified because he's been through it already. There are many plot spins and things that just make you go what. They don't feel like they were thrown in to get a reaction though, because everything has (so far) linked together perfectly.

The underlying points the game seems to make are
- You should rely on your friends (and allow them to rely on you)
- Trust those around you.
- Be brave in the face of danger, but don't put on an act for your friends.
- Yeah, trust, again. That can't be driven home enough.
- Don't be afraid to ask for help.
- But hey, even if you do all that, sometimes you're totally screwed anyway. (That's probably not meant to be one of the points, but that's how I viewed the last two episodes...)

And look, anything this horrific and dark is going to draw us in. It's easier to relate to a characters pain than it is to react to a happy plot, and there's enough darkness in this storyline to keep you on your toes. That said, there's still a dash of hope in everything the characters do which will keep you interested and praying that things turn out well. There's still a chance they'll survive, and, in my case, at least, I'm holding onto that slim chance as much as I can.

The 'game' has a pretty strong following. There are hours of gameplay and, once you get to episode 7 or so, you're not going to want to stop watching it.
Honestly, I almost cried when I reached the end of episode 17 p1. I need part 2. Now. O_O
There's a lot of fanart and MAD/AMV'S to watch once you've finished with Heta Oni, so it's hard not to get hooked.

I do have one bad thing to say about it though. At the beginning, the character portraits are hilariously bad. They get better.
Um, this also has one of the greatest soundtracks. One of the greatest.

This vid here isn't from the game. It was drawn by one of the fans, but it's hella good so I'll share it. This is the English fandub of the song, btw. The original is better vocally, but it's good being able to understand the lyrics. Skip to 16 seconds in if you want to ignore the intro.

There is a lot of emphasis on clocks and time. Not much I can say about that here without it being spoiler-filled though.
There are some lines you'd only get if you had watched Hetalia (like America calling his glasses Texas or Italy being able to tie his shoelaces...) but it's not too heavy on the references. So regardless of whether you've watched Hetalia or not, I suggest you go watch this RPG. You won't regret it.

Well, you might. I regret it because I am desperate to know what happens next and I can't stop obsessing xD
Currently two characters are stuck in a time loop they don't belong in, one character has gone completely blind, one seems to have died (well, his heart has stopped beating, God knows if that means he's dead or not) and now they can't go back and restart another time loop because the only two characters that can do that are unable to. What the hell are they going to do? Fffff- I need the next episode =/

My Newfound Love For Drama CD's

Well, drama CD's and image songs, really. I never bothered with them in the past, no matter how much I liked an anime. My current obsession with Hetalia has kind of driven me to this, though. There aren't nearly enough episodes or webcomics to satiate my thirst for this series, unfortunately, and while some of the fanfiction is great, it's just not the same.
So I decided to go look up any official media I could. Turns out there's quite a few extras for Hetalia, which is good. Extra stuff is always good. Most of the image songs are just fun to listen to, though they can give you some epic alternate interpretations of the characters. Germany's song Einsamkeit is depressing and very different from Germany's actual personality, and China's image song... well, I never liked China. But his song Aiyaa, Yonsennen is so, so sad. I hadn't looked up the lyrics when I first heard it... all I knew was that the vocals were extremely emotional and that the melody itself almost brought me to tears. The second half of the track is heart-wrenching.
And then you look up the lyrics.
Oh God, the lyrics. It doesn't go into depth about Japan's betrayal. It just explains the love and adoration China still has for Japan, despite the hurt that he left behind. And the spoken paragraph at the end is so heartbreaking, regardless of whether you've read the English translation or not. As I said, this is a song about a character I don't even like, yet I was driven to tears. Maybe I'm just overly emotional, but trust me when I say that it's been a long time since I last felt that way over a song.

...anyway, that wasn't the point I was trying to make. Back on topic!
I kind of maybe downloaded the drama CD's because I can't get enough of Arthur's/England's voice. In the dub he has an overly attractive British accent (naturally) which automatically endears him to me (Have I ever mentioned how much I love British slang? Because I really, really love British slang). However, after listening to his image songs, I realised that the original Japanese voice actor was just as amazing if not more so. I mean, I don't think he has an accent or anything cool like that (and if he did, I'm certainly unable to detect it), but the VA doesn't need one. He's just... amazing. Noriaki Sugiyama voices him, and seriously, he's epic. I can't believe I'd never noticed before. I mean, he voiced Rivalz in Code Geass, and I certainly didn't notice then...
Anyway, I downloaded the drama CD's so I could fangirl over his voice. And I was not disappointed. Being a drama CD, you need to put a lot of emotion into your acting to get the point across, seeing as there's no images to go with it. Noriaki does an amazing job. A seriously amazing job. His voice is like... there are no words to describe how easily he can portray a character's emotions. I'm in love with his voice~

Wait, wait, bollocks, that wasn't supposed to be the point of this post, either. Ahem.

I'm very into drama CD's, and not just because of the hot VA's that may or may not be voicing them. A drama CD is exactly what it sounds like; a CD (well, a track. On a CD. You get the idea) that features a ~dramatic~ scene depicted entirely with vocals alone. There's no image, obviously. There are sound effects though. It's like the shows that used to air on radio's before the television was created. They aren't usually a part of the main plot (though they can be), instead they're mostly just side stories for those who are bothered to look them up. And, at least in the case of Hetalia, they can be better than the show itself. As I said earlier, you need to overdo everything to get your point across, and that's where the VA's truly shine. That's kinda why I love them at the moment. It's all very raw sounding and has the ability to draw you in even without a visual aid. Hell, not having the visual aid makes it better as you're able to let your imagination run wild.

I'm rather enjoying them, actually. I wish western television companies would create things like this.

Random: I find it very amusing that listening to England's drama thing took up as much time as three episodes of the anime would have. x)

More random: England is now my favourite character. Like, ever. Screw all my previous loves (yes, including Hinata from Angel Beats! and Inuyasha from Inuyasha (obviously) and... yes, even Matt, bloody Matt from Death Note), this guy is where it's at.

Blogspot Has Been Partially Blocked At School

I can still access the dashboard and I can make posts, but I can no longer read any blogs nor can I check my comments. Phantomess is profoundly outraged by this, and I most certainly agree with her.
We've been using Blogspot for... I don't know, a few weeks.
I've been using TVTropes for almost an entire year. It hasn't been blocked even though I am often avoiding school work by reading about my favourite shows during class... I'm not complaining, obviously, I just think it's odd that Blogspot was blocked first.

I'm listening to the Hetalia Axis Powers OST. Germany's theme is playing. It's very war-esque and doesn't really match with shool.
Oh nevermind, Japan's theme is on now. It suits a little better than Germany's theme does. Very relaxing, which is always good when you're doing very little (much like I am now).

I'm going to go do random reasearch on Japan because that's what all cool kids do during class.

Totes Working

I am sitting in class, bored out of my mind. We are supposed to be working, but who wants to do that during the last week? Anything we do now will not count to our grades anyway. So I'm watching Hetalia Axis Powers while pretending to work. I haven't been caught yet ^^
I'm extremely bored.
There's something about being forced to work that drains any energy I may have had. If I choose to do something, I'll be very productive. If I'm forced to work, I become a very, very bad (good?) procrastinator.

There's no spell check on here. Here's hoping my spelling is alright, then.

Alright, I'm going to be somewhat productive. I've loaded up TextFugu and am going to study Japanese. I mean, it's not school work, but it's still work, right?
